infiniti g35x stock with 162k miles
Question New member - Car needs help!

Front hood has paint chipping. Bumper is partially on through zip ties. Also, notice the hood is a little crooked from the top right side.

Major clear coat falling off.

As you can see on the left panel, major clear coat chipping.

I've had my 2004 G35X sedan for quite a while. Currently, it has 162K miles and only 2 codes that I am going to fix as soon as I have the money (Downstream sensor 2 for Bank 1 and 2). I've had my ups and downs with this car but always loved how it drives. Since joining this community, I have done a bit of maintenance on my g35 which drastically reduced my engine codes. I put in new idler pulleys, bands, spark plugs, ignition coils, oil change, oil filter, MAF sensor, windshield wiper tank/motor, double din dash for my new double din radio, dual pair of 10' subs. My car would be in better shape if I would have learned how to do maintenance work way earlier. As I am starting grad school, getting a new car isn't possible. Therefore, I am determined to fix this car up and use it for another 4-5 years. So far, what I need to fix are my:
1. Exhaust (My Y pipe exterior guard is broken and when I accelerate my exhaust rattle)
2. Door seals (They are ripped and let minor water in. Also, you can hear the wind when on the highway due to seal tears) If anyone can recommend how to replace these or alternative weatherstrip, it would be awesome.
3. My paint job. (My clear coat is falling off, paint is chipping off, and minor rust in certain spots.) This would probably be the last priority since it will be the most expensive. I've thought of going to MAACO since I don't have a 1,000 to fork out.
4. Windows (When I bought the car the window tint was peeling off in the most random spots making it impossible to peel it off in a clean way. So I am thinking I might have to go to a junkyard and switch out windows.)

Again, I don't have a big budget. I'm slowly but surely picking at my car fixing it slowly. If I can do it myself I will but certain things I will have to take to a shop (exhaust/paint job). However, any recommendations/links to parts or anything else will be greatly appreciated. Located in the TX area.

Start looking around for your local Pick-n-Pull to see what kind of inventory they have for G35 sedans. That will take care of your weather seal on the doors and your Wi-Fi if you want to get under a junker car, otherwise just buy a y pipe from somebody on craigslist or Facebook marketplace. Preferably get the HRY pipe.

You can get a price quote from somebody locally to get the car wrapped rather than painted, it's typically cheaper to wrap and will last four to five years if you take care of it. The lesson learned from your paint condition is that vehicles require UV protection or the clear coat will fail prematurely. Look into a product called OptiSeal by optimum car Care. It is super easy to apply after the vehicle was dried after a wash. It's not a ceramic coating it is the technology they used right before the ceramics came out, it's $20 for a bottle that will treat your car for an entire year if you wash every other week, really it only needs to be applied every other month but the more the merrier and it gives the super finish plus a little UV protection.
