I wish I could Show you my 07 g35 coupe with a 6mt. I bought it and didnt get a chance to hear it run or anything but ive always wanted one so the 2 gss I picked it up for was cheap. But When i hired a Locksmith to make a key I got to hear the Rod Knock. Ok so I pulled the motor and replaced the Rod bearing.. I got it started after and no knock but it didnt run well and after a backfire it died and hasnt started since. Ive changed the crank sensor and both cam sensors. Its still a no start. I took the ipdm box apart and had to buy a replacement, stupid me.. I just got the ipdm fuse box tonight and hoped i coud start it. but NO WAY. I turn on the ignition and after a few seconds the radiator fans come on and I dont hear any fuel pump prime, but there is somthing about the radiator fans coming on thats telling me sombody knows what my problem is? It will crank over but im not getting any fuel pump prime, or spark cuz i shot starting fluid into the intake and no fire. Maybe another bad crank sensor? I would be so happy if sombody can tell me what my problem is? Ive had this g35 for 2 months and have worked on it every night trying to start it but im at a loss. Ive run out of ideas. I ordered a obd 2 tester from temu but they sent it to Los angeles now i have to wait for another one.. Anybody with any ideas that will help me I would appreciate your help.

 

Is the check engine light on?

 

The light wasn't on with my original ECU. I got another ECU out of a wrecked car and put it in there and now I have fuel pump prime but no spark and my Nat system is stopping me from starting the car. Can I use that ECU that I got out of a wrecked car it was from a 2003 with a automatic transmission and I have a 07 with a manual transmission?

 

O have a p1610, a nats malfunction, also U1001 can comm circuit, P1564 ascd steering switch, P0118 engine coolant temperature circuit high input so those are my obd codes. I'm trying to give as much info as possible, thanks

 

You CANNOT just swap in a new ECU without either flashing it with Uprev to bypass NATS (immobilizer), or having the dealership program it.

Well thanks for letting me know that. Is Nissan the best place to get my ECU flashed or do they sell new ones? Do you think I can take my original ECU to Nissan and have it flashed or is there a better place I can send it? Will I have to get the key programmed again also? I had to pay $180 to have the last key made.?

 

I sent you a private message with all the details. Once we flash the ECU with Uprev and disable NATS you no longer have to go to the dealership or pay the locksmith to program the keys. It essentially turns the ECU into a standalone

 

Seymore4, hey i hope im doing this right. So you have a flash service? I dont know if my ecu is bad or what. I cant communicate my obd 2 to it. I had a locksmith come out the same guy that made my first key and anyway he didnt want to come out free. He said his scan tool couldnt communicate and jumped in his jeep and took off without explaning anything. I had to call him to ask what was going on. So you can work on the ecus without the car being there? I am having problems with the ecu. I gota ecu out of pick n pull and its not the right one, its out of a different year and a automatic . so I guess you need to have the ecu to test it as well as work on it? correct Right?
Im not working right now and my funds are minimal. but i want it fixed and without the ecu working im at a halt. Whats it gonna cost to see if my ecu is any good, and to take the nats security system out of it?
I bought the car and dude I got it from lied to me and wasnt giving me the key to test drive the car and I had already given him a grand and he spent all that so I had to give him the balance of the 2 grand and i did and still didnt get a key so I called the locksmith and after paying $180 I had a key that started the rod knocking car. I pulled the motor and worked the crank where the rod knock was at got new berings and miked the crank and got it as round as i could and using a plastic guage put in a new bering. , put the car back together and I started it up and it ran rough for about 5 min total and it died and oped backfired and has never started again. I am gonna buy a used motor asap. hopefully in 2 weeks when my new internet job pays me.. but i still need the ecu checked or fixed or replaced or flashed or whatever . I would like to see how this motor runs after my 2 weeks of working on the crank and rod. So now you know what im up against. Im gonna keep the car always wanted one and had a g35 sedan but automatic and it burned up in the Carr fire in 2018. I want to build this one and have fun. So please let me know what you think and the cost and where to send it. and can you put a tune on it without the car being there? anyway thanks and I hope to hear from you soon
