Stay Away from Ray Catena Infiniti in Central Jersey!
Went to Ray Catena Infiniti in NJ to purchase a 2008 G35X this past Saturday. Instead of getting my car, I got a rude treatment from the saleman who also tried to rip me off
I have already negotiated to buy the car at his invoice. To make a long story short, after over an hour to negotiate my trade-in, we finally agreed on the trade-in price. The stealman proceeded to write up the contract and when I review all the numbers, I noticed two glaring numbers! The dealer wanted to charge me $347 for the registration fee! I questioned that amount and the stealman first showed me a dealer printout with lots of numbers to confuse the customers. I told the stealman that the registration fee is nowhere near that amount, it's more like $47.50! He sensed that I was not going to pay the $347 so he called another dept and pretended to asked for the right amount, knowing fully well he tried to tag on another $300 for the registration fee. Finally, he agreed to my number, $47.50 and told me he just got back from Arizona so he is not familiar with the correct amount. That's another lie because he showed me the stealership printout with all kinds of number.
Then I pointed out to him the documentation fee of $250 is way out of line! Most dealers charge anywhere from $149 to $169. Even then I strongly believe ANY documentation fee should not be charged to the customers, it is the dealer's cost of doing business. Can the dealer ask me to pay electricity fee, rent fee? Anyway, when I told him the fee of $250 is about $100 more than most other dealers, he got up from his chair and left without saying a word!!! Of course, I was not going to sit and wait for him to come back. To me this behavior was more than rude! On my way out the showroom, the stealman call out and said sorry we could not reach a deal. I turn around and replied we had a deal it's just your stealership tried to rip me off on two occasions and I won't stand for that, loud enough to let all the people in the showroom to hear it. I wasted half a Saturday with this con artist. So stay away from this Infiniti stealership, Ray Catena, in Central Jersey!

I'm surprised you say that b/c I've heard good things about them. Too bad that from my experience most stealerships are just like this. Rude and stupid, they don't even know what they're selling you. Now, how do I get a job selling G's???
They seem to have all the bogus awards from Infinit but I was never impress with their prices nor their service. I went there with my wife 2 years ago and they just ignored us, maybe because me and my wife both look young for our age. Finally we were able to talk to someone but he was just rushing us and gave us a price almost close to MSRP and they won't budge, mind you it was end of 2005 and 2006 is coming out. They also said that they will only offer a loaner if the car is bought at their place
My wife wanted the AB and I wanted 6MT so I had to call every place. The color was so hard to find and all dealer that I called are giving me bogus reason that it is hard to find so they have to charge me MSRP. To make thing short I got my 05 6mt Coupe in Connecticut for only a $400 Invoice and no other bogus fee added. A month later Ray Catena called me if there is anything they can do for me
Now on the service part. I live in Staten Island, NY so I to called them for service and ask for a loaner. The lady said that they don't have enough loaner and there is a 1 Month wait if I wanted a loaner
WTF!!! So I called Kings Infiniti and they gave me a loaner right away without any questions. I have been to Kings for 5 services and always got a loaner even if the job takes 20mins to do

supposedly their service is what makes a name for them, but i too had a very poor experience w/ the sales department. regardless i will never give them any of my business, there are more than enough dealerships in he area that you don't have to put up w/ their kind of nonsense.

1 month wait for a loaner??? Kings Infiniti always has 7+ loaner on standby sometimes I don't even put any gas when I bring them back
To continue my saga at the Ray Catena stealership, the slime ball stealman has the nerve to call me on my cell and at my work place yesterday after what happened last Saturday! Of course, I did not speak to him! The guy had no self-respect at all! When the salesman used a printout of bogus fees from the management and the sales contract printed out $250 for documentation fee, it tell me the management is behind all the bogus fees to rip off the customers. I will never, never buy any car from the Ray Catena car group! I will go back to Circle Infiniti where I bought my present G35 even though it is about 45 minutes from my home.

Too bad there are many people out there who won't get to see this post and will go and be treated like crap. Sounds like somebody should introduce the stealership to g35driver and whip their sorry a$$es into shape!
Ray Catena
Bought my '06 G35x from them. I built the car at the infiniti web site asked for bids from all dealers within 75mi.
Within 24 hrs. I had 6-7 bids. Did all negotiations by email. Didn't talk to any one until I was ready to order. I called and gave them a Visa deposit. Picked up my car and drove home to Philly. Piece of cake. Saved $2k.

Sorry to hear you were treated so bad at Catena...
I purchased three cars from Circle Infiniti, and couldn't of been happier with the sales and service there......
I moved farther north, and Ray Catena was less than 5 miles from my new residence.
I used them for service, and they were pretty good......always prompt and courteous.
The Sales people there did have a little bit of a attitude, but I didn't care since I was only there for their service/parts dept.
I now moved out to Western Jersey, and I have a choice of either Catena in Bridgewater or Flemington Infiniti which I have used already, They seemed Decent all around.......

I purchased my car from them 2 years ago and get all of my service done by them and I have had no problems. Everyone there was friendly and they worked with me when I bought it. When I drop the car off for service I never have a problem. I always get a loaner.
sorry to hear about your bad service. It might have just been that salesperson.

wow im sorry to hear that you were mistreated like that, what was the name of the Stealsmen there? I bought my G35 from that dealership beginning of November. Took 2 days because the original salesmen was a moron. Because i bought the car off someone that had it on a lease, so he was not very knowledgeable about the process. I spoke to the GM explained my situation and set me up with another salesman and had a piece of cake transaction took about 45min to do. But they definately are starting to Mess up if ur getting that from them.
I am going to Circle Infiniti next week to buy the 2008 35X. Hopefully I'd get a much better treatment than Ray Catena. I also figure at this time of the year, I am shooting for $500-1000 under invoice! Let's what happens!
