I hate cops.

This has nothing to do with causes of accidents. Speed rarely is the CAUSE of an accident, but again: not the discussion matter here. It's the severity of crashes at speeds.

Also, officers are usually oblivious to the real dangerous stuff that happens on the road (people cutting other people off, constant tailgating, road rage etc.) but rush out of their way to save people from themselves LMFAO. Oh no!!! You were doing 9mph over the limit. You could've killed yourself. Now pay this fine.
You serious? There is absolutely no logic in that.
Also, to all the people bitching that they hate cops that they were on power trips and so on...just ignore them. When they're giving you a ticket that's all they can do....maybe give you a speech as well. Big deal. Go fight the ticket or pay it. Acting like a little kid will get you nothing.

I agreed that 15 above was non-sensible.
Your stopping-time argument is flawed, because a slower person in front affects required stopping time just as much as a faster person coming from behind.
And your argument that everyone traveling above the speed limit is a knucklehead is downright retarded. Cops drive like knuckleheads, as someone else mentioned. No signals, speeding, many of whom ride around with tinted windows all around as well.
To top it off, almost every officer who's ever given me a hard time has had a chip on their shoulder which bares itself in their attitudes and demeanors. It's usually the female cops actually... I believe it all stems from their inherent feeling of insecurity being a female. Lots of male cops also pursue the career because they have something to prove. Just out of curiosity, G35 Mass, are you a female or a male police officer?
Seriously, I tried to bow out of this debate by agreeing to disagree and recognizing both sides of the coin. But a futile effort, apparently!

Anyone that says, "Sure, I'm going to do 80 knowing well that a crash at this speed compared to the limit of 65 is much more likely to result in my serious injury or death" is non-sensible.
Anyone that says, "Sure, I'm going to do 80 knowing well that compared to doing the speed limit I'll have a significantly increased stopping time and much more likely to cause harm to another motorist" is non-courteous.
Anyone that says, "Sure, I'm going to just disregard the rules I promised to abide by when I got my license and speed" is a knucklehead.
Did it ever dawn on you that maybe speeders ARE non-sensible, non-courteous knuckleheads?
Don't drink and drive.

Let me get this straight:
A slower driver is equally a hazard on the roadway as a speeder because a speeder might not have the appropriate stopping distance available and may strike the slower car?
I thought today was going to be a boring rainy day here in New England. Thanks for the comic relief!

Sounds like you actually understood! Yes, slower and faster are both relative terms, which refer to two or more objects! That's some Bill Nye sh*t bro!!!
Glad to provide your day's excitement... I'm sure it is a thrill compared to any 15 mph errands you may be running today!

If I had faith in you ever having any substantial political presence, I'd give you the go-ahead on that order! Although I'm pretty sure it already exists... it can't be legal to obstruct traffic by going 15 mph slower than everyone else. Nothing worse than a granny in the fast lane!
Can you please tell me what kind of cop you are? Campus security doesn't count, neither does CO, dispatch, animal police, or pub security.

must be mayhem with no speed limits posted in the mall! Time for me to close the shop and race home. Should have a new exhaust waiting for me at my door step, it's gonna be another good way to **** me off some dorky-*** police officers!
It's been fun, and I think I've learned three things from this whole experience: GeeWillikers is just as big of a math-geek as me, Mass G35 has never made love to a woman, and I hate dbags (especially when they're wearing a badge!)
Hopefully you guys can carry on this debate, because it's kind of entertaining!

I'm currently studying to be a law enforcement officer. I respect the occupation totally.
