NoVA/MD Tinting

Can anyone recommend a good place in NOVA/MD/DC for tinting?? I know of California tint (said they can only do black tint in 20%), and LA Tint who wanted $350 to tint my car!! I am looking to get a 35% with a charcoal/smoke color to go w/ the BS color. I am willing to drive as long as the price is reasonable ($150-250) and the quality is good.

LA Tint charges a lot because they do very good work. I wouldn't take it to Joe Blows tint shop.

I have to agree that you dont want to take a 35-40k car to Joe blows, but I have seen excellent tint jobs from $200-$275, and we are talking top notch films and quality work. My friend had his new S4 tinted at this place in Alexandria for $250, they did a great job. But $350?? That price sounds way off, unless they guy wanted to throw in a blow job - Nasty!!

I got mine done in Alexandria too, I think it was LA tint. It wasn't 350 though, around $240 I think. I'll have to check my business cards when I get home, and I'll give you a # to call for better pricing (hopefully). They did a top notch job on my coupe. It definitely is worth paying extra.

Ya the tint on your car does look nice. I like the black tint on white/black/TB/CB/RED cars. But I prefer the grayish color on DG and BS coupes. Let me know man, hopefully I can get it done tomorrow!!

Ya man, I got it done last week, at Calif. Tint...it looks pretty good IMO, the only thing was they kinda squeezed me in on the 30th and were leaving town the following day. They ran out of a portion for the upper part of the rear window where the dot matrix stuff is. He told me to come back this week sometime to get that filled in and I'll try to go on saturday. let me know when youd like to see it!! I think I also noticed a long thin im not sure WHAT stuck in the back window, so im thinking to tell him to redo the entire back window, im just afraid he will screw up the defroster lines....

What % is your tint? VA only allows 50% front/35% back but I'm thinking about just going with 35 all around coz 50% is like... nothing. does anyone have any problems with darker than legal tints and cops in VA?

Also, how much did you pay for it and would you recommend that place?

I have 28% all the way around and I haven't had any trouble with the po-po yet. I do have willow interior though, which makes the tint look lighter. I do not think they will give you problems unless you go pitch black with black interior, or mirror tint.

What about inspection? Do they look at tints?

nope, saftey inspection is not for tints, for headlights, windshield (to make sure it aint cracked), rear/front blinkers, taillights, brakes, tires, suspension parts....etc. if you have an old receipt from a state inspection pass/fail just check the llist of items they either 'check mark=pass' or simply dont which=fail. see if tint is on there, but im almost 90% sure its not!!
