Its second nature to put on my seatbelt for me, I even do it when I sit down in the car to do something that doesn't require driving, I put on my seatbelt and people are always like "what are you doing? you aren't going anywhere"... <--- looks like a moron sometimes

But I think better safe then sorry!

Well, in general, you are right about driving a fast car and not wearing a seatbelt. However, at 5:30PM 101S looks like a giant parking lot. I was surprised that cop even bothered with pulling me over for a seatbelt when he could be chasing carpool violators. Anyway, I do not complain. I broke the law and I am going to pay for it. I was just wondering how much.

seatbelt has always been that one thing that has been engrained in me. If I ever take my seat belt off, to reach for my wallet or something, I feel awkward...like I'm naked.

Wasn't me was it? I doubt it, I work mornings. If it's the first time you've been issued a citation for seatbelt, it will probably be 80-90 dollar range. I've only been to one traffic collision where the one person in the vehicle who wasn't wearing a seatbelt lived. He was ejected through the back window and very luckily only had bumps and bruises. The car caught on fire on the others didn't fair too well. I have pictures but out of respect for their families, they stay with me. Just because traffic is bottlenecked, don't believe there isn't a reason to not wear your seatbelt. There are dummies out there who drive like maniacs and pass on the shoulder and center median. You may be going slow, but they are doing it at 50 MPH. If they collide with you, it will be worse if you are not wearing your seatbelt. The fine goes up for every ticket you get for not wearing your seatbelt. Good news is, it's not a moving violation. No point on you record, no traffic school. Just a civil penalty.
