500!, for what...brakes and rotors, dipped in gold and installed! My friend (whom is a mechanic) just helped me do my brakes and rotors ( the right way too, brake clean parts/clips, anti-squeal..etc)) and the total cost for me was about $130 for parts and about 1-2 hours of work. We used oem pads and a good quality rotor which are more solid than oem. I am going to be out of town for the next few weeks, otherwise I would help you do them. If you can't find anyone to help you out, I can give you his number and it would cost you around half or less of the price of the dealership.

edit...I just talked to him and he said he could do brakes and rotors for about $170 with parts and labor! How the dealer can charge $500...I just don't know.

hahah yup, I don't mind the drive, plus my car is so way overdue for an oil change and all of the dealers are booked up till next week.

There's also one other thing I was hoping to get help on. I recently put on the larger 05 oem brakes on my 03. On the rear brakes, I had to hack up the rear backing plates to get more room for the new larger rotor. Well I got the backing plate to clear, but my cutting skills were poor and its a real mess.

I just replied to your PM, please let me know!

Quote: Just want to let everyone know that I am in the process of purchasing a professional grade brake power bleeder.

You're supposed to flush the fluid every year because it's hydroscopic...

Hi Eugene - I've never bled my brakes before...is this something you can help me with? I changed my pads about 1500 miles ago...and the last time my brakes were bled must have been at 18k when Infiniti changed my brakes under warranty. I now have 50k....and I don't feel my brakes are as "quick" as they were when I first bought the car in 02.

Thanks,
Grant

I've been meaning to do my brake flush too.. but my G has been at the dealer for a while now - they're trying to get it to stop pinging! Shoot me a PM and we can setup a time to do the flush.

Thanks Eugene. Maybe we can do the flush once you get your car back from the dealer?

Hey Bythebay,
I need to do my belts, drain & fill Tranny fluid with Matic J, and radiator, flush/fill. Do you think you might be able to help me? Anyone know where the best place to get matic J for a reasonable price? Chad@infinitispecialist.com perhaps? Thanks for any info.

I can help you with belts and the radiator service. I can recommend a good shop to do the trans flush. PM gizsf (eric) on where to get the best deal on the matic J fluid (he recently serviced his trans at the shop I recommended). Not sure which service you're doing but you might wanna consider plugs, throttle body cleaning, and other misc items.
