thoughts on lake merritt?
hey all,
i know there are several east bay ppl on here. i'm moving to the east bay and found an apartment close to lake merritt (3rd ave and 12th street). it's about 2-3 blocks off the water, 10 minute walk to the bart and has covered parking. i'll have a nice view of the lake from a 9th story unit. there's absolutely nothing interesting to me around the building, so i imagine i'll have to drive to the north side of the lake where that theater is or head over to jack london sq and chinatown.
any thoughts on the area? i know oakland is a little rough on the edges but i'm hoping this area is ok...

If you like sushi then check out "Take Sushi" on Grand Avenue just past the lake heading toward downtown. It all depends on what you're into. Lots of great food in the area. If you into driving in the twisties, let me know. Skyline (not the Skyline Road on the Peninsula), Redwood Road and the Oakland hills offer some of the best roads around IMO. I'm up there all the time. Enjoy exploring.
