Yeah, I don't think it was orchestrated, just dumb luck. They only wanted to break up the party and were hoping to catch one of us drug runners with a payload of meth.

Gabe,

Sorry to read of your mishap. I know how much you took care of your baby. Warren must feel terrible about the whole situation. You'll get your ride back to looking clean and straight, as always.

Shane,

I was was planning on calling you with regard to planning a Santa Cruz III run. However, I might simply wait a bit due to the possibility of watchful eyes monitoring these Driver boards.

So these chp(s) passed you guys from the accident and then blocked you for tickets? Or were they already ahead of you all waiting?
Either way, sounds like they had nothing better to do. Sorry to hear you got caught up in that BS.

in the future, i propose that we agree on a date for future runs. the details of the route and meeting times should be distributed via private mail

The whole POPO incident struck me as very odd, I have been thru that route many times in last three year, I have never and I do mean never have seen any law enforcement out on 84 from Alice to Hwy 1, once in the blue moon I might run into an park ranger but never a CHP/Deputy. I can not say that we were set-up or just our luck, but what are the chances of three Deputies (have heard they were more than three) park along side of road which isn’t traveled heavily to do an traffic enforcement? I can understand that CHPs were out to clear out that accident, but why were they pulling ppl over as well?

Given today’s weather condition and rate of the traffic flow thru that area, I don’t see much of chance they are out there just to do an “general” traffic enforcement, I mean if they were and we didn’t past by there today? They might still be seating out there now, without writing an single ticket.

I began to understand why at some other fourms, they do not post detailed drive info.

How did the cops come so quickly.

One of you mentioned that a cop went infront of the first car and pulled everyone over.

That was the cop from the accident site, I know this because that cop was all over my *** tailgating me and I just pulled over cause if I went any faster he could potentially give me a speeding ticket.

Don't know if missed any passing me while I stopped near the restaurants, as far as I know that was the only cop car that passed me? Where'd the rest of the cops ahead come from?

also I don't understand why some of the members still rev that high when(when leaving the restaurant) we're trying to lay low . Attention is something we don't want I thought?

That all sucks big time. Sorry to anyone that got tix. A complete waste of taxpayer money "35 in a 35" I mean come on. Are you serious? Like not having a front plate or some tint is really a dangerous crime. Go catch a killer.

I agree with everyone above. It sounds a bit like this was a planned thing on their part. For future meets probably just post a start location and end location and pass the driving details out on site.

All that said... I still wish I could have made it.

I suppose I was the lucky one, got pulled over and told I had no plate but got off with a warning and I was on my way, sorry to see that a bunch of you guys did not fare as well. I was surprised to see the second batch of cars pulled over after I left the first police trap....I guess we need another route next time.

Very interesting turn of events for my first meet. I didn't get pulled over but my friend's white Accord did. He got hit with a fix it ticket which he said he didn't have to pay but to get written off.
I was the blue sedan pulled over to the side w/ the hazards on waiting for my friend and some of you guys passed by. I was surprised that those that passed by with no front plates didn't get pulled over. The whole situation with cops blows! Never happened on other car meets i went to, but it won't discourage me from attending future meets.
Anywho, We turned back to Alice when several guys turned around after the first cop checkpoint. My friends and I went to Santa Cruz for lunch and went on 35/9 (hardly any cars in sight) so our day didn't go to waste.

Sorry I wasn't too social because I was busy checking out all the fixed up coupes and sedans. I have some catching up to do!!

My friend's told me someone commented on the green valve caps on my tires. LOL! Hey those add extra 10whp haha!

I was wondering how you left so quickly after getting pulled over. I think you were pulled over the same time as my friend's white Accord or after. WTF! how come he didn't get a warning. He drives a Honda but still....BS!

but then, also remember we saw 2 sheriffs on our route up, going the opposite way. maybe they radio'd their counterparts?

anyway, shane thank you for doing this. it was awesome, and will be even more fun next time. im glad everyone was safe.

ps: why were those 4 cars on the shoulder next to the smashed red truck? did that happen right when you guys were there?? i saw you guys going up while the 4 of us were bouncin'. your cars looked okay. anyway, just curious.

I just told him to look at my front bumper and that there is no way I can put a plate on till it is fixed, he looked and said enjoy the rest of your day go figure, I have no way to explain the actions of some cops over others.

I was concerned that he may ask me to pop my hood but that went my way this time.
