Infiniti @ Serramonte (Bay Area) 30k Service

This is for Bay Area G drivers

My recent email to the service department of Infiniti of Serramonte.

Hello,

Can you give me a quote as to how much this part of 30k service tune up will cost for 2004 G35 coupe 6MT?

Replace in-cabin microfilter
Lubricate all locks/hinges
Replace differential oil
Replace engine air filter
Replace engine coolant/flush system
Replace engine drive belts
Replace manual transmission oil
Replace radiator cap
Replace radiator hoses

(This list is only a SMALL part of the 30k miles service from Infiniti's website without the "Inspections")

The reply was:

Thank you for service request. This package for your G35 Coupe is at our every day low price of $969.95 and includes a complimentary service loaner vehicle.

You've got to be joking me, $1000 for only the "replacement" part of the 30k service lol...

Then I called Frontier Infiniti and I was quoted $550, and Stevens Creek Nissan quoted me at $490.

Why isn't there some kind of law to regulate this type of price gouging business practice?

You might wish to call either Pete or John at Serramonte and have a chat with them. An e-mail is so impersonal. I am sure that they will be willing to discuss the price and what it is that you need done.

It's a free country. Prices range from good to horrible. Caveat Emptor ( Buyer beware!) We don't need regulation. People will go to the cheaper place for the same thing, and won't go to the other one, except for the really dumb people!

first thing you should learn....

NEVER EVER go to serramonte. they're blood sucking thieves. they honestly define "stealership" and their service is horrible. If anything, go to peninsula or oakland infiniti.

Some lady probably emailed them the same request and she probably brought it right in there no questions asked. My girlfriend is a Service Advisor and the things she tells me about how people just lay down at dealership prices blows me away. Therefore, they would rather shock you with an outrageous quote and see if you bite, because people do everyday.
For most of us here on the forums, if we need tires for example, we research and look for the best deal and a lot of times get them shipped. But a lot of people off the street will go into a dealership and pay 1.5 times the amount just because they are the OEM tires and the dealership has them. It's quite funny actually how people are so lazy they will pay dealership prices just because the advisor tells them to.

Oakland is definitely a good choice. Once again, richt127, either call or go and give Pete a visit over at Serramonte. He has always been more than fair and accomodating with me and my other family members. I asked him yesterday, in person, with regard to my upcoming 30k service and it is no where near $1000.00. You probably received a typical shopping around e-mail response.

If Serramonte is more convenient for you, I'd give them a call. You have nothing to lose. The larger majority of people, whom I know, have had nothing but praise for Serramonte Infiniti.
