Oil changes

Guys when you change your oil do you need to replace the copper O ring on the drain plug each time? Need to change mine tonight and I thought you could re-use the O ring.

Copper Washer...........

Here's the deal with those copper washers......if it leaks change it......I'm
at 15K miles and haven't changed it yet. My Z had the same washer, in
125K miles I only changed it twice. In '92 I bought a half dozen and I still
have four left.........does this give you any idea?

WTF?! I know its full synthetic and all, but for $70 you might as well take it to the dealer.

Oh and is it 5.5 qts? I usually put in 5 qts.

Doing it myself, using Mobil 1 oil, Mobil 1 filter, and a new washer it usually runs around $35.

That really isn't that bad, just a few $'s more than I just paid ($29.50) and I provided the oil and filter.

Don't use Mobile 1 anymore. Much better oil avaliable.

Go with Castrol 0W-30 European Formula, aka German Castrol. It'll run you $6.19/qt at autozone. It's one of the thickest 0W-30 oils at 12.1 cst @ 100C, and if you look around it produces very good UOAs for the VQ35

I've called a bunch of autozone locations and they denied that. I stopped by the one in san jose on berryessa/capitol and cleaned them out. The following week, they were stocked up again and had a shelf full of them.

I use Amsoil oil, filter, and air filter.

To save a few coins, Castrol 0w-30 (buy a bunch if you can find it), Pennzoil Platinum synthetic, and Rotella 5w-30 synthetic are all very good and show good UOA in the G35. Wix, Mobile 1, Pure One filters. Never Fram or oem. Don't scrimp on the air filter, it's worth the extra. Go to Amsoil site and read about their filter.

Visit bobistheoilguy.com, read and decide for yourself.

How much is Pennzoil Platinum synthetic and Rotella 5w-30 synthetic, and where can you purchase it?
