That is true. The time your radar detector picks up the lidar (aka laser) you are already pulled over. The only way to prevent a ticket is either slow down, or buy laser shifters like I did. I have the escort zr3 laser shifters and I already experienced it first hand at jamming a lidar gun. The cop had know idea, he kept looking at his gun thinking it was broken.

How can you figure out if someone is using such a device?
I saw on mythbusters that these things DON'T work.

i think laser shifters/jammers are illegal in most states. u have to turn it off a few seconds after your detector picks up the signal, so the cop thinks its the machine not your jammer

The ones on mythbusters were the RMR (Rockymountian RADAR) units which are worthless and do not work. Anyone with a decent detector knows this.

My laser jammer is also a parking sensor. The key is to use the laser jammer and turn it off when you reach a safe legal speed. Not to jam the officers gun all the way too him. There is proof some work. Just visit the www.radardetector.net forum and go to the videos section.

Some jammers will not give the officer an indication that his gun is being jammed besides him not getting a reading, where as some give jam codes. So you must choose wisely.
