Hey, John,

Feeling a bit under the weather, still. I have taken my car back to the dealer for the second time. Since the engine swap, there is a vibration noise when engaging into 1st gear and the car appears to be dripping quite a bit of engine oil on to my garage floor.

I trust that the oil dripping issue will be resolved. However, the vibration noise item may present itself to be more of a headache. They did not hear the noise the first time. After bringing the car back the second time, the tech now hears the noise.

Long story short, they want to charge me $150.00/hr. to isolate/fix the noise issue. They said that it may be my HKS exhaust. I need to sit back and reevaluate my situation and options.

Everything is fine, now. The staff at Peninsula Infiniti resolved all issues. Gotta hand it to them for being so patient is dealing with the problems.

Hey guys... ok droped by the dealership on Tue to do the 1000k check up on the consumpsion test. Andy and Jason(infiniti tech) I need your help here.
I had the tech check it while i was present... it was about 1/4--1/2" down in the "shaded" area. The tech responded "oh thats great no problem here it is only a quarter of a quart low" He proceeded to tell me that the shaded area of the dip stick only reprsents 1 quart of oil" ????? They didnt even want to top it off. So my question is this ...does anybody know if that is truly the case? It seems fishy to me. I will still have a issue with say 1 1/2 quarts low at 3000k... I have a 2000 ford econoline with 205k on it and it burns about the same amount!!!
Any help would be great!!!

That reading would put your OC at some 1/4 to 1/2 qt. low at the first 1000 mile interval. Yes, as it has been explained to me, the shaded/hashed area of the oil dip stick equates to 1 qt.

It has been mentioned that less that 1 qt. of OC per 1000 miles is an acceptable standard by Infiniti/Nissan. I may or may not agree with that said standard, but those are the standards, as I understand them. Good luck to you with the rest of the OC tests.

Well I spoke with my service advisor at Frontier Infiniti and he is calling Consumer Affairs for me since they gave me the run around about my results. While talking to the advisor I asked the question about if he felt that my engine would be replaced based on the results of others that are having OC issues. He explained to me that I have nothing to worry about, and the dealer will put some pressure on Consumer Affairs.

BTW I burned 1 qrt in teh first 3,000 miles, which was no burn in the first 1,000 and a 1/2 qrt in each of the next 1,000 miles. The final 1,00 miles I burned 1 qrt of oil. So a total of 2 qrts in 4,000 according to my dealership is worth a new engine.

We will see. I should hear back from my advisor by the end of next week.
