there are 2 catalizers per stock cat. so what we see as 2 is really 4 on a scan.

yes there are always at least 2 catalizers per catalytic converter however it shouldnt confuse the state ref due to the fact that they are checking for the # of converters

i think they are confusing the midpipe of the hks exhaustlike ryan said but if there were truly 4 cats there would be 4 o2 sensors, but there isnt and if an o2 sensor goes bad check engine goes on like having test pipes =D

there are 4, see? on a scan they read as 4. we've always considered them just left & right BUT each has a front & rear cat.

so, there are 2 catalizers per cat. converter. That's why they thought there are 4 converter?

So, the HKS exhaust also have 4 catalizers? 2 per cat. converter?

the HKS retains the stock cats. the best way i can describe the OEM cats is, they're each a one-piece cat containing 2 separate cats built-in.

Thank you, SDGenius. You save the day.

Tomorrow i will go there and tell them to suck it up, I already prepare all the paperwork.

- Picture of a Cat. Converter (with 2 cat. blocks in each)
- CHP citation list (NO E.0. # necessary)
- Diagram of Stock exhaust set up (Shows only 2 converters)
- List of nearby infiniti dealership phone numbers
- papers, a pen and my cellarphone set on the record mode

Hey, I talked to the Supervisor again. He said there is 27156 V.C which any modification on the exhaust is illegal. Any part of it, even just the tips. OMG. In other words, he's not passing anything that doesn't have a E.O. number.

an innocent ticket + a retarded state referee = f*cked up my week

I just read the 27156 VC, its a very vague code. Can you still go to Alameda?
