Exclamation Wake up call to all California HKS exhaust owner

Long story short, i got pull over for HKS exhaust. Now i need a EO# (Executive Order Number) to clear out for smog. I have been calling all over the places and no one seems to know it. The legal info on the HKS website only talks about the noise level, NOT EMISSION doc. Can anyone help me out on the search? All I need is a Legal document or EO# to state that HKS Ti is legal in CA for Emission.

EDIT: CHECK PAGE 4 for the VICTORY OF THIS BATTLE.

What does an exhaust have to do with emissions, it usually there to muffle the sound? I believe you need to have verified that you have your stock CATs that went along with you exhaust. The CATs are what deal with the emission part of things. Thats probably why you didn't find anything

why would you need the document? wouldn't they just do a smog/emissions test to confirm that it is legal? HKS exhaust doesn't exactly have many markings on it to even identify what kind of exhaust it is. How do they know that you don't have a knockoff like the XO2? the document may be a useful reference, but i wouldn't think that they would base the inspection on it

According to them, the OEM exhaust has 4 cats. The HKS only has 2 cats. NOT PASS!!! In other word, they want the OEM config.

See, this is what confuse me, too!!! They said the OEM has 4 cat converters, 2 front, 2 back. HKS only have 2 fronts.

One way or another I got in a big *** argument with supervisor (he was telling me he has 15 yrs experience), they are not going to go easy on me one way or another. So I must need offical doc. to shut their mouths.

So put your stocker back on to make them happy and switch it back out after the inspection.

not to get too off subject but thats one of the aspects i like about Stillens exhaust .. looks close to stock. If cops hear you, then they'r gonna look, if it looks stock - no pull over

wow... I don't get why they would need it, but that really sucks. Like another poster said above, you should probably just put the stock one back on for the inspection... it seems like less trouble at this point

HKS is a catback exhaust which does nothing to ur emission and at the same time raises ur DB (sound) lever within CA vehicle sound db limits.
Now what does ur citation say? Can u post the vehicle code that u were cited on?
my citation is supposed to be on the intake ONLY. 27156(b)v.c. According to G35 chippie, it's nothing serious. When i was at the referee, they inspected my car as i was delivering drug. They pull out the blue print and inspect every thing line.

HKS just called me, they said there is NO EO# for the exhaust, it's not required by law.

Tell them to suck it, they obviously have a toddlers experience when it comes to automobiles. Our car AND any car for that matter only has two cats at the MOST, end of story. The HKS will not effect emissions, just go get an inspection and rub it in their ignorant faces.
