Hey for those of you who live in Norcal, do you think I'll get pulled over if I put 35% tint all around except the windshield? I don't want to just put tint in the back.

The doctor's note doesn't really work. Some people swear by it saying that it has saved them countless times, however, the doctor's note pretty much states that your eyes are sensitive to light. All you need to fix that are those removal windows shades.

My uncle was told that by a cop when he showed him a doctors note for his tint.

Damn, even if I say my skin is sensitive haha. Don't want to risk having 35% all around.

The argument is that if your are sensitive to light, whether it be your eyes or your skin, you are only affected during the daytime. At night, you do not need any protection. With a removal shade, you can use it during the day and remove it at night, whereas with tint, you cannot remove it on a regular basis.

Sfgr415, thank you. Finally a voice of reason. Just to let you all know, a doctor's not does NOT apply to tint! If you got it passed a cop, then good for you. All that means is the cop hasn't fully read the section. The doctor's note only applies to removable sun screening device.

From the window tint section which is where everyone is getting this doctor's note urban legend from--26708 VC- ....

(10) Sun screening devices meeting the requirements of Section
26708.2 installed on the side windows on either side of the vehicle's
front seat, if the driver or a passenger in the front seat has in
his or her possession a letter or other document signed by a licensed
physician and surgeon certifying that the person must be shaded from
the sun due to a medical condition, or has in his or her possession
a letter or other document signed by a licensed optometrist
certifying that the person must be shaded from the sun due to a
visual condition. The devices authorized by this paragraph shall not
be used during darkness.

26708.2. Sun screening devices permitted by paragraph (10) of
subdivision (b) of Section 26708 shall meet the following
requirements:
(a) The devices shall be held in place by means allowing ready
removal from the window area, such as a frame, a rigid material with
temporary fasteners, or a flexible roller shade.

(b) Devices utilizing transparent material shall be green, gray,
or a neutral smoke in color and shall have a luminous transmittance
of not less than 35 percent.
(c) Devices utilizing nontransparent louvers or other alternating
patterns of opaque and open sections shall have an essentially
uniform pattern over the entire surface, except for framing and
supports. At least 35 percent of the device area shall be open and
no individual louver or opaque section shall have a projected
vertical dimension exceeding 3/16 inch.
(d) The devices shall not have a reflective quality exceeding 35
percent on either the inner or outer surface.

I stopped a lady the other day with 5% all the way around. She handed me her doctor's note, which I promptly gave back to her. She said she had a skin condition and could not be exposed to the sun. At this time, I directed her attention to the OPEN SUN ROOF! Nice try, license and registration please.

I also stopped a young man the other day in an Integra. Had him pop the hood. A couple of illegal things. The most glaring, the engine was stamped B20B. JDM motor. No good. Have fun swaping that out for the 1.8 that was supposed to be in there to get passed the state ref.
