Moving to Sacramento???
#31
Okay, everything is finalized. Flight is December 1st and work begins on the 6th.
Damn I really need to find a place now.
I’ve narrowed my choice to Midtown, Roseville and Carmichael. I am thinking that Mid-town would be best. Any input on my choices?
If I can ship school Kine Cookies in my car, I will. hahaha

I still don't know where your office is (midtown or downtonw?... i'm a bit tired, maybe i missed it) but if you're going to be there, don't even think about Roseville. While Roseville is a great place to live (quiet, safe, relatively new area) the commute on 80 is a bitch and a half. Expect to drive 45 mins to 1hr at the MINIMUM during rush-hour.
Mid-town is good, need to be more specific as to which areas. If you can afford it, I'd recommend a loft near downtown.
Carmichael... eh... its and older area. Don't bother with the apartments there... guaranteed to be a bad idea. Look for rental homes or townhouses. Nothing new has been built in Carmichael in like 10 years (most construction is on outer edge of Sac; e.g. Natomas, Folsom, Roseville.)
Hope this helps a bit? Yeah right... haha

Job location is West Sacramento. I would say near Sacramento Downtown from looking at google maps.
Im trying to avoid the long commute but Roseville has some very decent places.
Thanks for the good info.

I lived in Roseville for almost 2 years. Never had a car broken into/stolen. Never had my appartment broken into, nothing like that. Paid $800 a mo, laundry/garbage/water/DSL included with 2 covered parking spots. As long as you stay off the 80 or 50 from 730-810am, 11:47-1:12pm, and 3:12-5:45pm traffic isn't that bad....but during those times you better hope you have some good tunes in your ride...or a book to read...

yeah I agree Roseville is a pretty nice area; A lot of new areas and A LOT of choices to choose from for shopping centers as well as a lot of nice places to eat. But like everybody said, it`s a pain if you are going to commute. I usually go during the weekends to shop and eat and whatnot but if you hit traffic, be prepared to eat some School Kine cookies, read a magazine or have a decent set of tunes to listen to (minimum 30 tracks).
Mid-town downtown area is really nice too. Everyone is very laid back and its more of a urban lifestyle. Carmichael's cool too since it`s a established neighborhood that`s over 40+ years old. But it`s not the cheapest and there hasn't been any new houses built within 10 years so you can`t be too picky if your trying to find an apartment.
You should also try to look around Pocket/Greenhaven area. It`s about 15-20 minutes away from W. Sacramento and traffic is much less congested during rush hours 4:45-6:30 since there are more highway exits to exit off of.
Anyways, by the end of the year, welcome to Sacramento!

Well if you are still looking, West Sac is not very far from Roseville. There are actually a couple of back roads that keep you off the freeway and you can get to West sac in fairly short order. I was doing it in about 28 mins with very minimal traffic from center of Roseville in the 7/8 am hour and the 3/4pm hours. It's really what you prefer and what kind of scene you want to have. Roseville is not much for a night life, but it does tend to be kept up well and fairly safe (except for that crazy mall incident, but I insist he was not from Roseville).
