:( my baby got hit today.
Check out what happened to me today in the morning.... i was backing up and another lady in an X5 BMW was backing up and she was in a total blind spot and we didn't see each other until the big slam! there was just a little black scratch on her SUV but my baby is all messed up. and the worst thing is, is i have to be at a car show in 2 weeks so that means... buy new bumper, paint it, install it all in 2 weeks ahhh.. wish me luck!

thanks everyone for the luck, it was a replica from creative auto-works and it was a PERFECT fit for being replica so that's why I'm really mad because I'm getting another replica and hope it fits the same... but yeah... picking up the bumper on Friday and going into paint on Monday and hope its done before thursday so on Friday i can install it and get a detail but i'm scared to get a detail with that fresh paint... does anyone think that's a bad idea?

main thing you're okay. is your gf okay too? haha! jp! you know she's hot. thats the only thing that scares me......fiberglass kits.
as far as the detail, just detail everything but the new bumper. reason is because the paint needs to cure. you aren't supposed to wax/etc for about a month.

ouch...gotta love FG kits. since it was a replica, prolly cheaper to get a new one than fix this one, huh?
the detailing depends on how your bodyshop cures their paint. if they bake your piece in the booth, than you should be okay to polish it and detail, just DO NOT put wax. you can do almost anything to the paint, just nothing that seals in the paint like wax. according to the folks at Meguiar's, the paint has solvents that are mixed in for the painting process that eventually evaporates over time (30-60 days). if you seal the paint with wax, than the solvents have no where to go.
if they don't bake your stuff, than I think the paint is still too soft to run a orbital across it.
not an expert, but that's how i practice on my new paint and what i have been told.

thanks for the advice everyone haha and yes my girlfriend is ok ... the funny thing is, we both really didn't care about each other the first thing we did was look at each other, took a deep breath and said "OH NO THE SYSTEM!!" so we got out and opened the trunk to see if my system was smashed but thank god it wasn't damaged at all... that's true love right there! but yeah i wont put wax on it, I'll just let it be because its fresh paint how bad can it be in just one day after painting it...
Here are some more pics...the crack was so big i can fit my fingers through it (i am skinny so that might have something to do with it haha)
