Pic Request: Aftermarket Rims on Stock Suspension
I tried searching for a previous post, but didn't find anything. I am looking into picking up a 2004+ Infiniti G35 Coupe and I would probably want to pick up some nice rims, but I would probably not lower it right away. Does it look like a 4x4 if I were to get 19s without lowering the car?
Any pics would be greatly appreciated.

btw. how tough is it to install your own lowering springs? I have installed lowering springs on my old Integra and then the shocks/springs on my TSX (on my own too
). Just wondering if its easier or very similiar

the G is equipt with 19" wheels if you get the sports package so aftermarket wheels will look fine on a non lowered car.
I installed my own springs (TEIN S-Techs) and it is fairly straight forward. took me maybe about 4 hours including a break for lunch and a trip to pep boys to get a strut compressor.
Heres a pic of my car the first day i had it completely stock

If you can do it on an integra, the G is even simpler, the rears are cake, and the fronts are pretty much like every other spring install. A couple of hours and a spring compressor and you can DIY. Drop is a must before rims IMO, while it won't look 4x4 with correctly sized tires, it will definetly look out of place

Installing the shocks/springs on my TSX was an adventure. I actually made some mistakes and had to disassemble the system on two sides twice...that was fun. I definitely could do everything under four hours after that, but it took me much longer since I was doing everything on my own and getting everything to sit correctly was a pain because I had to force the springs to compress, etc...
I'm glad to know that I can do this on my own. It seems like the majority only lower it 1" since the wheel gap is not dramatic. I will start to look into what people have.
From my experience, having the shocks and springs changed made a huge difference in bottoming out. Since the drop would only be 1", does that dramatically effect the shocks? When I only used lowering springs on my integra, my rims would always bottom out and it would bend/crack/blow out my tires. But when I did it right on my TSX (1.9"Fx1.6"R) I had the shocks replaced as well and I went through some nasty potholes and railroad tracks and the rims/tires survived the abuse. What are other people's experiences?
here is some good info for ya
