Anyone ever have a QX4?

So, just like the title says, just wondering if anyone has experience with this vehicle. My Jeep died and I need a new winter vehicle and the Lexus dealership has a 2001 Infiniti QX4 for sale, 90k miles, very good condition and the guy said he'd probably take 7500 for it.

It's a pretty solid car. But like all other cars that old, you need to look out for wear and tear, along with other issues that may have come up over the years.

Ask them if the strut recall has been performed yet. If not have them take it to Infiniti to see if it can be fixed. If not the car is illegal to be sold or driven and Infiniti will buy it back. Have them do this before hand.

Other than that the 01's are nice. Drive them at work and I was thinking about one for awhile if I could find one that was the right price.

Mind elaborating on the strut recall? What exactly was wrong with them?

My parents have a 2002 (I think) QX4....That thing has been put through the wringer (my dad is really hard on cars). It has over 100k miles, has dragged trailers around the country, routinely has tables and lumber strapped to the roof rack, and has taken my parents/friends/dogs all over the place (through MN winters). To my knowledge, it has never put a foot wrong. They have never had an issue with it outside of routine maintenance and it functions great to this day.

Qx4s are very solid trucks.

Thanks for the replys all. I will ask about the strut recall. The wheel spokes look like they had some rust that was painted over, all the windows move really slow and the drivers seat doesn't move back and forth (common problems from what I've read online) but other than that the thing looks immaculate. The engine bay is so clean it looks like it just rolled off the assembly line. And IMO, its a pretty sweet ride, especially considering its 10 years old.

From what I understand, it's the area where the upper strut mount meets the body. That will rust out and the upper strut mount can sometimes, separate from the frame. There are a couple different fixes based on how must damage there is already.

Check the rear links and bushings on the car, valve covers for any leaks, oil cooler O ring for leaks other then that the car should be solid.

Aside for the rust problems, most reliable thing I have EVER owned. Its basically a pathfinder with insulated doors and factory Xenons.
