I guess there are other computer controllers beside the ECU?

I remember it said something to the fact that you need to "put it (TB) down carefully" I cant find that sheet. If that were the case, everyone would have this problem. Can someone also confirm that the larger grooves are the in(side that attaches to TB), & the tapered grooves are the out (side that attaches to plenum). This is the way I put it on cuz it made sense to me.

Lost the stinkin install sheet
The instructions do not indicate unplugging the TB... yes the tapered ends of the grooves go towards the plenum, the open/wider ends towards the TB.

Thanks for confirming on the direction (damn postit fell off before I got to putting it in, good think it wasnt a condom ), . . . so maybe pulling from the harness can cause this issue too. It seemed the easier way to spray my gunk in it.

Turned out my TB got messed up somehow. The sensor inside is off, & it idles too high, throwing the CEL. Was at TS today gettin tuned up, & Tadashi was scratching his head on this one, cuz the TB wasnt throwing any codes. We tried with & without the TB spacer, & came to conclusion that the spacer is not at fault. I suggested we pull the TB off his project drift car, an M, from the side lot. Reinstalled, & problem fixed.

So the results . . .

TB Spacer without tune, gave me 6 or 7 hp, & a lil' bit of midrange torque with no loss, so my guess is it cant hurt to have one. It does alter the A/F a bit before a tune as you can see below. After the tune, I cant really say what additional gains were made, but here are the sheets anyway.

I didnt notice anything on the buttdyno, cuz it's obvious the gains are not huge, but probably more collective with my other mods, but it does make a really cool whizzing sound. Intake has a really neat spooling up sound.

This is before any tune during our trouble shoot test

After Tune w/ Reflash (we were able to fix the A/F with the tune)
Keep in mind that the sheet above reflects my mods plus spacer, and never been tuned. Sheets below reflect my ride after it's first ever tune with mods plus the new spacer. We cannot tell what numbers are being produced from it at that point, but we know it gave 7 Whp by just throwing it on there.
I'm cool with the overall numbers I got from the tune, & FX drives better.
Keep in mind, that these numbers are for an Auto, & I also have some big *** heavy wheels that have to account for 10 to 15 HP loss alone.

The tb spacer wouldn't fit my setup (amuse titan tube/arc intake/pi-thon locks)--The option was either to cut the titan tube or to lose the tb spacer )

I got the chance to drive without the TB Spacer today cuz I went into the stealership to check my TB (was idling too high, & throwing CEL). Ends up, all it needed was a reset on the idle/volume learn with the consult. Idle back to 650, yay. As soon as I got back to the office, I slapped the TB back on. It's about a 20 minute install with my setup. You need a stubby (small) ratchet with a 5mm hex bit (look for an extended hex, cuz the average size ones have a hard time clearing the TB assembly).

So I considered this a test by driving back to back, with & without the spacer, . . then back to the spacer. There is quite a noticable diff with it on, & the motor deff. sounds different. I absolutely love this little mod. From the way it performs, to the sound it makes. . . & no, it's not in my head. Thumbs up on a solid & inexpensive mod.

Glad you got everything worked out GTO.

I was as careful as I could be with the TB so I didn't have to go through with what you did.

Why is the "before" black and "after" red in the TB dyno but for tune dyno, the "before" is red and the "after" is black?

Good question I did witness the pulls, so it does make power . . If it didnt, We (tadashi & I) would have taken it off.

Sorry you're having problems jonnylaw... do you have a pic of your intake? If it is metal with the mounting bracket to the plenum welded (on the tube side of course) - it's probably at 90 degree to the intake tube correct? If so, there isn’t much wiggle room... There was another interested G owner with aftermarket metal intake and that was an issue (from looking at it) with his too... the only option I can think of is cut and re-weld the bracket farther up the intake or at an angle to allow downward/frontward (towards grill) clearance. I don’t think your air box should be a problem unless there is no flex on your intake tube… if there is no flex I’m afraid you’re sol. Pics would help.

Most that have installed have Z-Tubes (and a few OEM I think) - I have not heard of anyone having problems installing. There are several people still asking for these, so worse case scenario you can probably re-sell it.

PM me if you can’t find a way to get in installed.

yes there is absolutely no flex in the intake tube its straight Titan and the tech told me that everything was just barely fitting before trying to install the tb. He said he could cut the titan tube and i was like no! but he worked on the car another day so it is possible that he may have made it fit. I will likely find out tomorrow and will update then. Thx for the supports guys!
