If you take a stock REVUP '05+ motor and just install the 5/16" spacer, there are no gains, and perhaps even some losses. Is this correct? Did they change the internal geometry in the '05+ collector such that spacing is no longer necessary?

Now if you add the '03-'04 lower collector (or machined collector) it makes a good amount of midrange torque with no loss in top end.

What if you add JUST the '03-'04 lower collector, but no spacer. Is there a big loss in top end?

1) Corrent, no gains really but per my contact they did see losses. The 05+ collectors as you can see in the picture below are more OPEN inside than the 03-04.

2) Yes with the 5/16 spacer. But still a slight loss on top end but not near the amount it would loose without the spacer.

3) Yes, big loss.

Picture:

Top is the 03-04 collector, bottom is the 05+

No losses. No gains. No change.

No. The 287 collector by itself makes big midrange and even upper midrange, but also has a big loss of top end. Too much.

Yes. It would be great for daily driving, but would compromise anything above ~5.5K

Have you watched the widebands on the car before and after the MREV mods? Just curious if the stock maps maintain the same AFR at these higher loads, or if some of the power is coming from leaning things out a bit.

There are a few A/F diagrams posted around here but from the ones I have seen personally, it has no real effect anywhere except the highend above 6500 RPM where the A/F went from ~11.5 to 12.0.

Even at 4500 RPM where it made the largest gains, surprisingly, it didn't change the A/F.

Well it's good to know that the MAF sensor is working!

Well, I have a Stillen Hi-Flow air box coming in. Let's see if this will compliment the MREV+. I can't wait to get it installed.

Funny thing today. I noticed one of my bolts on the plenum was turn-finger loose. These bolts are the 1-6 in the center of the plenum. The #1 bolt was loose and I proceeded to re-torque it to 30in lbs and checked the others and they were all fine, then when I moved to re-torque at 60in lbs they all needed some tightening. I wonder why they were loose? is this common? I followed the instructions to the "T" when installing the MREV and torqued these bolts using a top of the line torque wrench in the order they were suppose to be tightened.

^^^^ I had to re-torque 4 of the 6 center bolts 3 times. Actually, the last time, it was simply 1 of the 6. After some 4 weeks, all 6 are good to go at 60 inch-lbs.

Finished installation the MREV Plus on my 05 6mt sedan last night...(mrev and stillen sways finally arrived friday) it would have been a half day job on saturday (being slow and meticulous) but too many distractions and so finally got it done about 9:30pm last night...all i have to say is: WHOA!! , after turning on the ignition after installation, i cracked one large happy smile... i checked for coolant and vacuum leaks but seem like everything was fine and dandy... turned her off and did the ecu reset with the accelerator pedal method...

i wasn't fully sure if it did reset the ecu because some of the timing and intervals (fast or slow blinking) of the check engine light didn't follow synchronize with what was described in the directions... i did get a series of fast blinking and then another set of slow blinking prior to turning the engine off and restarting... hopefully ecu is reset...anyway, took it for a test drive and to fill her up since she was near E already...

acceleration to 80+ was quicker than stock...

highway cruising was a breeze at 80mph... can punch it in 6th while doing 80 and pickup is noticably quicker...

sound is definitley something.... deeper and meaner than without mrev... the sound difference is actually noticable while idling in the garage.... punch near 3k rpms and the sound is definitely pronounced... the mrev plus does compliment the z-tube and amsoil nano drop-in panel quite well, and i'm pretty sure the stillen or jwt cone filters will definitely be more noticable...
when i was refueling i popped the hood open to touch the plenum, both upper and lower, and was barely warm to the touch...gas station is 7 plus miles away since i live in the boonies and plus i took a longer route to get more feel of the mod...

can't wait to go drive it after work (still driving my 2k2 6spd maxima with injen intake)...

g35 idle (with mrev+ isothermal and z-tube w/ amsoil drop-in) = lion's purr
maxima idle (injen intake) = house cat purr....

i luv it... now just gotta get them stillen sway bars in....

Smile Just installed MREV and MREV plus on my 06 6MT

Installation was time consuming (assuming you use the torque wrench), but the worst part was getting at the hoses in the back of upper plenum...ugh PITA. The next day, my lower back kills too. But all in all pretty straight forward once u are looking at it.

Drove it for about 20 kms post install. So far, I have Mrev (with copper throttle body heater installed), Mrev plus, Stillen CAI and Z tube installed. Observations:

- Disconnected battery so ECU was reset. Did not have to do the recalibration of throttle body...whew. No CEL light or anything came on after install. I DID notice it quickly settles (idles) at 0.5 RPM now. I think this is much lower than before installin Mrev? (not 100% sure). Is this bad?

- Noise wise, it's not a huge difference from my stock 6mt. I know, i'm probably one of the only few to say this, but just don't see what all the "noise" is about (pun intended) on these mods. I went through the gears shifting at about 4-4.5k rpm. Note: keep in mind due to break-in I never pushed the car before anyway, so it may be why I don't have a base to compare properly...

- I *think* it's a bit more of a pull in third and fourth gear, past about 4k RPM. But again, it's not as noticeable as i thought it would be. Sigh, i wish i did some runs prior to install or a before dyno. I'm not 100% sure anymore. Maybe the gains are more for non-rev up engines?

I wonder with my "mediocre" results as compared to so many great reviews, if I did something wrong But car runs fine (except for mentioned lower idle) and heck I think my mileage improved too (that's what Nav is reporting anyway). I like the squeak/whistle when I depress the gas...that's pretty cool
