Motordyne MREV Mod

LOL . . . Once again, I am living vicariously through you younger and bolder folks.

Yet another MREV review!
I have had the MREV for over a week now and here are my impressions:
Installation: Fairly easy. What I have to warn future installers is to read the whole thing through first prior to DIY. And do not make the mistake my friend made when he used the torque wrench: The instructions say lbs per inch not lbs per foot. THAT IS A BIG DIFFERENCE!!! Other than that, it was a fairly easy install. Took me 1.5 hours to install. If I were to do it again, it would take me less time to do it. (If anybody in SOCAL would like me to help them install this, hit me up. I do not ask for money, just a burger from Carls Jr or something like that. HAHAHAHA!!!)
First Impressions: I was fairly impressed with such gains on a simple mod. It is nothing like a turbo but significant gains above 3500. I noticed that aceleration is a lot faster without me giving the car too much gas. I did a couple of freeway runs starting from 40 MPH and ending at 80 MPH in third gear to fourth. The car feels soo much different when it hits 4000 rpms and above at WOT. I still do not get how some other owners break loose their rear tires at WOT in 1'st and 2'nd gear. WORTH EVERY PENNY!
1 WEEK IMPRESSION: Car is more fun to drive and has much more useable torque. After a few redline runs, I do notice a flatline around 6500 but much better than before; however, how often does your car see 6500 rpms and above for daily driving. I consistently find myself holding myself back from revving past 4000 so I can get that surge of power. Do not get me wrong, there is power above 1500 rpms but not as much at the 4000 rpm mark. I have to admit that I have done some stupid driving but was very impressed with the power range in 4th gear going up a hill at 70 MPH in a 50 mph zone. The intake growl sounds (above 4k rpms at WOT) a lot better than the stock whine which most of us are all used to. Their has been a couple of times where I needed to pass a few cars and completly forgot that I had this mod and was taken by suprise.
My next upgrade: Strup 3-1 Headers. I "should" be content after that.
Conclusion: This was one of the best mods I have done to my car. I endorse it completely and have let other people who own Rev Spec G35's drive the car. Their impression is the same. You can defintely feel the difference and is worth its weight in gold. This mod makes the car have more usable HP and Torque for every day driving. Just remember, do not have high hopes and expect mad power that comes from forced induction.

Great write-up. Sounds like you have found the MREV's sweet spot. I agree with you, I rarely see any rpm's above 6500 during my daily driving, as well.
LOL . . . Have a blast . . . Enjoy!

Well, during the last few days, it appears that quite a few members have installed Motordyne's new MREV mod. All of the reviews have been quite positive to say the least.
LMAO . . . Hopefully, this will lessen the pm's, which I have received with regard to MREV. It seems by all new accounts that this MREV is a collective success in many ways. I know many of you are waiting on your MREV mod and I am anxiously waiting to read your reviews, as well.
For many of us, MREV is exactly what we are looking for. I cannot expect much more from Tony over at Motordyne . . . However, I personally would not be at all surprised if there were a MREV add-on of sorts in the future. LOL . . . Dare to dream.
Needless to say, I am always pleased to answer any and all pm'd questions to me with regard to MREV.
Are you MREV'd folks having FUN yet!

When my car was new (05 6mt, stock) it would break the tires loose after shifting into 2nd on a straight line even with the VDC ON. So with mrev and vdc off i'm guessing it would light em up like crazy.
I just installed mine, and I love it. I wrote up a review in another thread: https://g35driver.com/forums/intake-exhaust/79786-mrev-best-thing-ever-must-05-6mt.html
With regard to the tires breaking loose, i have not had a chance to drive it in dry conditions yet, but in wet conditions they are breaking at out 5k, then when i hit the second gear shift, even if i do it softly and more slowly than usual, the tires spin the enitre way through second gear, and they even spin into thrid now. Even when it was wet before, my tires were not spinning into third. Ill let you guys know how I do when its dry. Also, I have me winter 17" OEMs on right now, not my summers.

I must have a dud because my car has no where near enough power to break my tires loose above 4k in first and certainly not in 2nd gear. maybe if I had another 100 horsepower.
Of course I don't have the MREV, only the regular 5/16
RBull - The OEM tires don't make a sound when they break loose, so it might be possible you're getting a bit of spin without noticing it. Lately, it really seems like I've been spinning the tires ever so slightly near the top of 2nd. (between 4500-5000 rpm). It will be interesting to see what the MREV and other mods do.
