Hey guys I like were this is going, I think we should find out how much the stickers will be and maybe add that to the fee so that way when people join they get something in return like a sticker with their personalized # so they don t feel like they aren't getting anything in return.my 2 cents ...
I do not have the time to submit an order every time a new person joins the club, then go pick it up... etc.
Other things that were mentioned, most of you are new to the club and g35 scene, the club has bee around since 07 and we have most of the things you are asking about. The club banner, it is in my garage I hang it every big meet.
Business cards, we have 5k of them iirc. I need to have Danny screensavers renew our redirect.
I purchased a domain name for us years ago, and it rotted because everyone who said they could do anything worth while flaked.
Bbq we have had at lease 10 big bbq, but with no new memberships for the last year or so the club has no money to sponsor events.
Sponsors if you are a member this is in the members only section, some of them need to be updated etc, this goes hand and hand with me not having enough time to keep up with every aspect of the club.
So far I like the way this is headed, some people will never agree with dues and that is the way it goes. This is why I agree with Chris only members need to reap the rewards of big meets, bbq's etc. OR so that people do not feel left out they can pay a higher fee prior to the event to offset there cost.
Anyone is always free to input there 2 cents, we have lots of very knowledgeable people. This is what it should be about, not what am I going to get out of this... That seems very selfish, it should be what can I contribute to this club.
I have tried my very best to set a good path, Think of what section you would be in if I did not do the leg work. The southeast with no separation.
This is where you guys need to make the decision who wants to setup and help, and what can you do to help. I do not want to hear how bad things are etc, if they are so bad then honestly setup and change them.

I'd like to contribute more but most of my attendance will be tentative due to work. I'm more then willing to continue donations and help out where I can when available. I have some old and new connects here and there (recreational and related) that I'm sure I can get some discounts/perks from. I'll try my best once we get this up and running again

i do :-) but im not local .. im starting to get with everyone in our club and do official shoots of their cars.. i know danny "screensavers" has a decent camera and could "maybe" do it for you guys , depending on what he says i don't know. but if you guys are every around id be more then happy to shoot some cars :-)

This is a car club not a job, we do it because it is fun... If it stops being fun then what is the point of doing it.
Another issue is people putting their name on the list for an event and don't come, If you put your name on the list and don't come your a flaker, seriously. (Real reasons excluded)
Also it seems people think the meet is canceled if it rains. Its not, we have or can think of Plan B. Not showing up because the weather report say 40% chance to rain is dumb. If the meeting is canceled it will be in the thread.
It seems to me we have a good amount of people that want to do meets and want to do things which is great! I think We can have meets in different locations occasionally. I know some people that have to drive. But Once a month in Miami, then towers, then in boca can be a good idea. So we can change it up.

everything most people have been posting is good we're starting to move in the right direction i was pretty hesitant when i started this thread but now i feel like i took that first step that everybody was thinking about but never acted upon it hopefully we get the club back up and running soon
and also i believe i should pay dues since my year is over which i will right after this post maybe some others will take the same incentive and pay their dues think about it summer is right around the corner if enough people pay dues maybe we can have a BBQ or something soon also like danny said its not what u can get out of the club its what u can contribute

Exactly, Last towers meet we had double the attendance, part in due to the raffle that I and Greengoblin set up, and we had some great times after towers and the raffle when we grabbed dinner. Which is how it should be since we only do this once a month. Agreed

Ok, had to move from my iphone to the desktop for this post. But once again, here is my take...
First off, could we somewhat limit the "banter" in this thread. This is a serious issue and becoming more serious as time passes. Some great ideas have been offered so far but lets get some things established.
First, the SFLG35Club already exists. It did a year ago when I got here and has continued to since I have been here. So all the start-up ideas, as much as I appreciate them, are only barely applicable. Danny has provided this service for us for many more years than I have owned my car and I do not want derogatory comments it this regard. Do not discount where this club has been, or where we are now. I do agree we need to pick up the ball, but a "re-start" is not required, only a reorganization.
Ok, to the changes. Firstly, A vote is probably in order, but only to make things seem more democratic. I would think a Vice President, Treasurer and a Coordinator would be in order. I believe this should be done by nomination, then vote. And of course, you cannot nominate yourself. Before we get to this point, I think we should establish what each position will be responsible for. Then, I agree with Danny, the vote should take place in the members area. But perhaps we should consider the fact that at some time in the very near future, we need to establish who are "truly" members. At this point, due to the fact that more than half of the member base is not up-to-date on dues, compounded by the fact that a number of new members, that post here regularly, have not paid dues at all to this point. At any rate, all the current people that will be effected, should have access to the vote, but not the general public.
Next... I think the voted in counsel should appoint area representatives. The counsel will be well enough versed to make the decision who should represent each area. I do not personally believe that the area representatives are required, but enough individuals have brought this up that maybe this is a worthy issue.
Lastly.... Everyone who has been here for more than a week is well aware of the benefits of your involvement here. I think as a club, we can all agree on how to move forward. There are future issues that will have to be dealt with and some good ideas to implement, but lets not "dirty-up" the current issues with a bunch of information. Meet locations, Photo shoots, BBq's, and wife swaps can all be worked out once we re-establish the organization. I am thinking most of the cool people I have met at the last few meets will agree. We will all ride over these bumps and get where we are going uninjured.
I have been taught a few things in my 41 years. And certainly learned a few lessons. I shard "KISS" in an earlier post, now hear is another one: If you start at the beginning and finish at the end, somewhere along the way you will accomplish your goal. Baby Steps guys... Keep the ideas coming, but lets get to the roots.
Danny, thank you for what you have provided us. I hope I have not stepped on your toes and I have certainly not meant to offend.
As a Side note, I know the E107 forum system very well. I offered before, and I will offer again, I would be more than happy to take on the moderation of our own website. I can build and maintain it no problem. I have zero artistic ability, but I am sure we can find someone here to help us with that. This site uses VBulletin, E107 is comparable, so it would work very much like this site does.

The only problem i see in your whole post is the idea of "banter" and the sense that we are throwing "derogatory comments" about the club.
The only thing people are saying is what they think we should do as far as bringing up participation from all the members and future members. Nobody is insulting, nor disregarding the work and effort Danny and the original club members have done. If anyone does, they are probably face rolling their heads on the keyboard because NOTHING can be more distant than the truth. We are just all collectively speaking out on what we think might benefit the club.
Some ideas are good, others are minuscule, and others are just not good. But this is the idea of a community: getting these ideas out there verbally so we can all agree, as a club... OR better yet, as a family.
I think the council would be the best bet for this to work out, in an organized fashion. Other clubs ive been just had a "Leader" and eventually that "Leader" didnt give a damn, disappeared, and the club disassembled. Appointing people in charge of certain aspects of the club, as well as a decent hierarchy is a good idea. And i dont even think nomination would EVER be a problem with us: It is obvious who puts forth for this club and who doesnt.
One thing that should be done, in regards to activities and BBQs and the likes, these should ONLY be mentioned in our member section. That way, only people who pitch in actually benefit from the club. Local meets and such should be shown to the public, so that they can get to know us and WANT to join the club. Seeing us get together to do things is how people see us being alive.
But i digress. I think the biggest issue is organization. Danny has done an amazing job from day -1 and continues to do for us. Its time to give back to the club and make this what its supposed to be: A community. And in a community, everyone does their part.

Agreed Venom. The banter I was discussing was simply who has the best camera and how great someone's shots were. We don't need 6 pages of back patting right now in this thread. The ideas are great and i think everyone welcomes them. That was my only point. Otherwise, I stand down and look forward to the cumulative decision.

I trust Danny, and the lumpsum can be under his watch until we advance to a more structure stage where we can discuss how it will dispersed event-wise, or whatever costs dough and its necessary for the advancement of the club and for the overall fun stuff.
I'll go ahead and set a tentative date for people to get their fee in Next Friday 6/3/11.. I feel like a week go gather $25 is enough, if not we can change it at the thread I will create in a few minutes.
At that point, we will see how many ppl step forward and want to make the commitment and show their willingness to take it to the next level.
Until that point, lets keep brainstorming. Who is willing to volunteer to compile all of the ideas into a short threa post with no repeating stuff, and turn it into a massive 1st post? That way we can have an idea of what issues are to be considered/discussed.
Once we hit that 6/3 date, we can setup a meeting at a physical location where we can meet and discuss how to structure and appoint officers.
I really like the energy right now, let's keep this up.
