Check your 3rd brake light!

It may very well be out, or only working part of the time.

There is an existing thread on this subject here and I also created a thread in the Sedan section here: https://g35driver.com/forums/g35-sed...yours-out.html
After a while, a few coupe drivers noticed it is a problem on the spoilerless coupes as well, so a thread was made here: https://g35driver.com/forums/g35-cou...t-failure.html

It seems that a common problem with the spoilerless G35 Coupe and Sedan is that the third brake light (the one in the back glass) either does not work, or works intermittently.

Apparently, Infiniti is either unaware of this problem, or (more likely) trying to brush it under the rug.

Several members have reported that informing Infiniti of the issue has done little good, so a better option would be to report the problem to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and report the problem to them.
If enough people report the same problem, NHTSA will launch an inquiry which will hopefully result in greater attention from Nissan/Infiniti in this matter, and possibly a recall.
Clearly, NHTSA will be very interested in this information because of the obvious safety implications of a non working brake light.

NHTSA can be reached by phone at 1-888-327-4236

Also a complaint form can be filled out here: https://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/ivoq/

The form is easy to fill out and only takes about 5 mins.

"My 2003 Infiniti G35 coupe 3rd brake light is out (inside glass). This is a common issue with the G35. It needs to be brought to Nissan of America's attention. This could possibly cause an accident. I have seen that 28 people have filed a complaint to you on my car forum. But I feel that this issue needs to be addressed ASAP. If it were just one car with the issue then I would gladly pay for it, but since this is a common issue, Nissan of America needs to fix this as it was a production issue."

made complaint

I just checked my middle brake light, and it was out, so I investigated. The light clips into the wiring harness with a plug that's right under the light and easily accessible when you open the trunk. That plug is flimsy and loose, and over time, it built up some oxidation on the contacts. I cleaned them off with a qtip moistened in WD40, and now they're shiny like new and the light works fine. This isn't a big deal.

got my car back from the dealership today and they said the same thing about my third break light and sure enough it was out and i will look in the future to see if it cuts back on, but my side reflector lights on my tail lights are also out and i bought a brand new pair of jdm tail lights not sure if thats related or not.
