Any Auto-Cross events in the L.A area?

I have always wanted to go to one. But I've never heard of one in my time here in G35driver for the L.A area.

So, is this like a seasonal event? Any events in the L.A area in the near future?

I'm really itching to go to one.

Maybe im not looking hard enough

Excuse my lack of knowledge in regards to autox...

There is guys...It usually at Hollywood Tracks or something like that...They rent the parking lot out on off season and put cones up. I highly suggest you mod your suspension and get a good set of race tires...My buddies autocross all the time. I can ask him for more info. The national champion drivers come there to practice so they sure make everyone look bad...

Thanks for the info hai! *Awaiting more details*

Why exactly do you recommend suspension mods & race tires? I'd love to see how the G-Coupe handles with the stock suspension & stock rubber. Ofcourse, after that, all the suspension mods would come in. It would make a good before-after impression from the effects of the suspension mods.

If you want to try your stock suspension that's fine...Just get a set of race tires or make sure you have another set after. I raced my Integra with stock tires at an event once. It was fun as hell. I had an LS with just a front strut bar and a pulled a faster time then this one guy with his GSR and lowered and everything. Goes to show you that the driver makes a difference when the cars are close. Well, after the track my car started to pull to the left. My friends that cross goes thru tires like nothing...They said that the most expensive thing for this sport. Race tire depend on the compound and how they drive it it will last them longer then street tires.

Oh, remember that its not a full size track or anything. They just put up cones and make a course. It real up close and personal drive and you race against the clock. The fastest you will probably get is probably in 3 gear the most. You really have to know your gearings and turns. There's no straight-a-ways. That's why the stock NSX and corvettes that come out to auto-cross sucks *****. I don't know about the Z06 tho I haven't seen one track at auto-cross event yet. But i sure had a great time laughing at the NSX owner when he spin out 4 times. I used to work for acura and I thought it would have been a killer on the track. NOPE. Unless it is modded with suspension and sticky tires. That car is crap in a small track setting. Miatas, civics hatchback, nissan, and smaller cars dominate auto because of the lighter weigh and track setup. But once you get a properly tune suspension and tire setup you can really kick a$$ in your class...

interesting on the NSX. If the C6 Z06 were out there, it would go from start to end in a blink

Those things handle like crazy... and we already know how fast they are on the staight. Damn light weight overpowered supercars (C6 Z06 specifically)... I envy them

a yellow z06 with a fat fat white man rev'd on me today.. pretty funny. I was making a right, and he was going straight on huntington and san gabriel ( came back from twohey's all you can eat ribs with co-workers ) and he rev'd on me, so i rev'd back, then he... then i.. then he... but i had to turn so yea... i want one though... =(

he was heavily modded for sure, saw gauges and everything... sounded way meaner as well.

I went with a coworker to the Porsche Auto Cross in El Toro last time. It was fun, just go too hot towards noon.

Hey Skater,
Go to www.solo2.com as well as www.sccaforum.com for all your autox needs.

You might also try open tracking too. It can be more expensive, but you do get far more seat times (on the track) and as the result more satisfying IMHO - worth every penny. I also started out autox back in the days. There are several VQ track junkies here, you should come out w. us next time.

My advice to you is to not get caught up with the "need to mod in order to autox or track" bug, that is if you're truly interested in learning rather than just going fast. The necessity to "upgrade" will present itself in due time as you get better acquainted as a racer. For now, all that you need is a set of track worthy pads and heavy duty brake fluid. And don't forget to have fun.

Looking good there E_K!

The El Toro autox layout is pretty neat and yes it gets pretty toasty out there during the summer.

That's the place....Go to those 2 websites...My buddy goes on there to find out the schedules. I just talked to him. He just bought a kart so his money and time is going into the kart. I guess he'll be karting for a little bit while he builds his other track car...
