I'm not sure where you can order the double din kit in Houston....Do a search for BlackonBlackG35 he's in sugarland....he has pics of his double din unit...Hope that helps you

u said that u already got the double din kit?

try searching online first. get an idea on what you want. look into kenwood and alpine. those will be your two best bets.

i've got the double din kit, and the ac controller...i'm leaning toward the kenwood or an eclipse system, but I don't know of any shops that have done the conversion....the one shop i've been talking to has not done it before.

It's really not a bad DIY if you have any kind of electrical aptitude.
Takes time, but I really enjoyed doing my own conversion.

Here's a LINK to my install.

If you decide to get a shop to do it make sure they're qualified.
A recommendation is best.

Good luck you'll love it when it's done.

i don't have the headunit yet...still deciding on it, but i'm leaning toward the eclipse avn5495 w/ the hard drive in it or the avic-d1 like in blackonblack's car (there is a HUGE price diff b/w the two)...i have a 2003 mt.

okay...i went ahead and tried the shop, Houston Car Stereo, that installed my jl system (6.5 comps in front, 6x9's in back, 8w7 sub in trunk w/ 500/5 amp)...they did a GREAT job...it took them from 12 noon till 7pm...they cut me a good deal for the kenwood ddx8017 and the pac swp wireless control...now i just have to fiddle with the settings to my liking...i'll post pics later..they also did the solder work so i didn't lose dual control.

the total was around 1900...i brought in my own dd kit and ac controller....it took them longer to install my speakers a year and a half ago...that was about 2 days...they wanted to take a day and a half for the ddin conversion, but i couldn't be w/o my car, plus i live like 40+miles from them...i've always found that they gave me reasonable prices...talk to Dia and say mike w/ the black g35 sent you...that might help especially now that they've done one...man i can't say how much its worth it...the head unit, whatever one you get, makes the system sound so much better...

1900 was Everything...labor i think was 200-300...the deck was 1300...the wireless thing was 150ish...they kinda made the prices up while i was there...i told them i had this much money and what could you do for me...they might have given me a better price due to the fact i had them do my speaker install a while back...i didn't haggle at all either...i probably could have gotten it done for a little less

I asked Custom Car Stereo for an estimate. They said it installing it would run me about 1500 and 7 days. But, that was before when I didn't have the DD kit and the A/C unit. So, I'm just getting my hands on parts slowly. Wires, Double Dash Din, A/C Unit, Head Unit. All I need now is the PAC SWP and Rear View Camera. Hopefully this will drop the installation price to your range of 200-300 instead of my 1500 and the time to about 1 day.

I live in Willowbrook area and recently met a gentleman who does fantastic work at a great price. You can check out his website: www.rockstardesigns.net. His name is Rocky and he is definitely the best guy i've met to do this job!
