i'm in the galleria area, so i'm in the same boat as you - not worried about flooding, but the winds and no power, etc... are my concerns.

Well if I was you guys I would think about trying to get out. Alot of my friends left earlier some went to austin, dallas and san antonio. I have to stay until friday since I am in the coast guard and fly a helicopter out so once the storm passes we can fly back in and access the damage and also to see if any one is stranded and needs rescue. I would hate to have to rescue one of my G buddies, but atleast you know you would be safe. I'll be the once hoisting you up.
Good luck and be safe to everyone in Texas.
We had a low category 3 (Hurricane Juan)in my city a couple of years ago and even that shut down our city for 3-4 days and did significant damage. My house power was out for 5 days.
Take care of yourself, your family (and your G if you can).

I just heard on the news that this hurricane is the 3rd strongest storm in Atlantic history at this moment. Please keep aware of things if you are in the path and get out of there if you can.
I had no idea it was _this_ bad...
It sure is gaining more and more strength awful quickly.

Im staying.
Hopefully it wont be so bad here on the north side of town, but i do live on the edge of the flood plane in my area. Tried to move the G but couldnt get anyone with a trailer in time.

I am staying and riding it out. Robb is correct, if you watch the news all the freeways out are at a near standstill

I don't remember that. Oh, wait. I think that thing caused me to total my '97 Ford Taurus V8 SHO. Well, thats what State Farm, Friends, Family and work said about that lil fender bender I had.I will remain here in Houston when this one comes in.
