My home in RB is still standing I think, maybe some smoke damage. Monday morning I was woke up to the police cruiser telling us to get the f@CK out RIGHT NOW!!!! We had less than 5 mins to get out. As I opened the door plumes of thick smoke were blowing accross the lawns and the sky was bright red and it was loud, full of rumbles. My roomies and I grabbed our files, some clothes and bailed out. We litterally had to dodge fire's on the side of the streets in order to get out. **** was intense. Fire was only 30 yards away from our front door.

We fled to my parents house in Scripps Ranch where later in the day we had to evacuate there as well. We ended up in Mira Mesa at a friends house until this afternoon when SR was opened back up. I am at the parents house still, since our neighborhood in RB is still closed off. Not sure when it will open up, hopefully tomorrow.

Glad to hear that everyone is safe. Good luck to thoes who are still in a state of evacuation. Hope we can all get home soon.
yea scripps had to evac too... hope everything is aite man...good to hear that your place is still there...but damn... my prays are to those still evaced and dont know about their house

That's good to hear. Congrats on surviving such an ordeal. That must have been surreal for the fires to have been so close, but all is well...

I could see the Santiago Canyon fire in the hills last night from where I live in Irvine. The air quality is way worse today...so much ash and smoke blowing around. I'm at work and the entire building reeks. Our SVP sent out an email saying if anyone leaves early due to the smoke smell, it'll count as a vacation day. It's nice to know how much my employer cares about our health...f-ing a$$holes

My heart goes out to all of those that lost their houses and to all the firefighters helping out.

Holy crap, what an a$$ . What about people who's houses may be in danger, does that count as vacation as well ? I just go the call that we (Navy personnel) have to return to work tomorrow. We still had 2.5 days off for free. Sometimes it's nice to be a government employee

Apparently it does. I guess they would rather have us keel over from smoke inhalation, than let us leave early. It's such bull$hit...that's the mortgage industry for ya

here's some pics i pulled from NASA (LINK)

NASA satellites have obtained new images of the California wildfires, illustrating the immense scale of the blazes. The National Interagency Fire Center reports that 12 large, uncontained fires have burned over 335,000 acres in Southern California. The fires have continued to spread due to the fierce, dry Santa Ana winds.

These new NASA satellite images of the wildfires show the area between Los Angeles and San Diego, California. Fire activity is denoted with red pixels. Vast plumes of thick smoke can be seen blowing out over the Pacific Ocean.

The first image was captured by NASA’s Terra satellite at 2:25 p.m. EST on October 23, 2007. The second image was acquired by NASA’s Aqua satellite at 5:40 p.m. EST, just over three hours later.
