Well my warranty expired today and I have a few weeks to let the dealership know if i want to get an extended warranty or just screw it. I called infiniti of tustin and they told me it would be 1500 for a 2 year extended warranty. Does that sound right to you guys? For all the people who got extended warranty how much did you guys pay? Is it worth it guys?

 

It's worth it if you have a car with the oil consumption issue and haven't got it fixed yet.

Dealer Warranty...Ha!! Those days are long gone for me, its worthless to me now Regular mechanics look at my car and are like wtf!?

 

I got my extended warranty at Montclair Infiniti and it was cheaper and for a longer period...

 

^ But then again you most likely got the extended warranty when you purchased it. The OP's factory warranty is gone and the dealership's allowing him to purchase it still. FYI...I bought my extended warranty from Montclair for like $1400 bumping it to 7yrs/100k miles.

 

just make sure they dont try to hit you with a deductible

pm me the specs on your car and i can see if i can beat that warranty. I work for a credit union and im sure i can get you better coverage, a longer term, low deductible and cheaper price. The Insurance Co. we go thru for extended warranties is name CUNA MUTUAL and has been around for over 40 years.


For example: we have 3 different packages(Silver/Gold/Platinum)

Platinum is comprehensive and uses a name exclusion list to tell you what is not covered which primarily consists of wear and tear items(brake pads/rotors/belts hose, etc) and aftermarket accessories.

Platinum package 36months/36k miles on top of current odo for a
2003 G35 Sedan with 60k miles is $1066 w/ $100 deductible.

+Our warranties come with unlimited sign and drive tow service up 100 miles and if your car brakes down 100miles+ from your home, the warranty pays you a $500 shelter allowance.

+YOU can take your car to any licensed mechanic who guarantees the work for 6 months/6000 miles.

 

^ Everyone's different...personally I went with Elite (Infiniti's only recognized extended warranty company) because if I need a tranny replacement or anything major, I want it backed up by Infiniti.

 

+1, and I heard that Infiniti dealerships decline service to cars with other warranties.

 

If you decide to purchase the Infiniti Elite warranty, consider purchasing it out of state so you don’t have to pay sales tax. Once purchased, the Infiniti Elite warranty is good at all Infiniti dealerships.

Like everything car dealership related, the price is variable and open to negotiation. Unlike buying a car, extended warranty purchases for “pre-owned” vehicles (not on a new car purchase) are usually handled through the finance department not the sales department.

Last year when I purchased my Infiniti Elite warranty, I was in contact with “Salvador” over on Freshalloy. Salvador called and got quotes from over 50 Infiniti dealership for extended warranties before settling on a good price. Unfortunately, with the high turnover rate at the Infiniti dealerships, all those contacts have moved on by now.

The original extended warranty thread is still on Freshalloy. Do a search, it’s worth reading.

My suggestion would be at a minimum to call Grubbs and Infiniti of Scottsdale first to get some prices. Get quotes from as many dealers as you can stand calling. Then call Infiniti of Nashua and see if they will beat the best price you can find. Infiniti of Nashua sells Infiniti extended warranties on eBay (although you don’t have to go through eBay to purchase it) so they are used to selling them out of state. I purchased mine through Infiniti of Nashua last year using this method.

Like I said, turnover at the Infiniti dealerships is really high, so your mileage may vary.

How exactly are you going to get around paying sales tax?

Warranties are ALWAYS handled by the finance dept., not the sales dept.

Other manufacturers have been cracking down on the sales of extended warranties on the internet, and Infiniti is already on the way to doing so as well.
