Dyno Day BBQ in Huntington Beach 4/4/09

Hi everyone,

Well, we have the dyno in and we have a weekend free, so I hoping to get a nice little get together/BBQ/dyno meet going for all the Nissan guys. Other cars are welcome too but it will be mostly Nissan. So, if you've got any buddies that would like to come along they're very welcome. Also, this is a TWO-wheel dyno, so unfortunately anybody out there with awd vehicles looking to hop on they dyno are out of luck.

The dyno is a dynodynamics with eddy current load control, so, its a pretty nice dyno we can do variable loads, whatever you want. It will be $55 for 3 pulls. If you need a tune or something we can help you out with that too time allowing after everyone has had their quick power pulls. Some of you guys probably know our tuner, his name is Bucky, he used to do a lot of his tuning out of Shawn Church's place for the Nissan community. We will have a bunch of hot dogs and burgers on the BBQ and drinks there too for all of us to eat, all the food will be free. Should be a real fun time.

So, aiming for 25 vehicles present to get on the dyno. It will start around 10 a.m., like to have everyone there before noon to hang out and enjoy the food. Depending on turn out, I expect the event to go into the early evening. Just RSVP in this thread if you're interested or shot me a PM or post in the thread and ill put you on the list.

haha, yea you can swing buy and grab a burger. I'm not gonna be strict. We have some crazy Nissans in the area I hope will come by too. The NOS drift team is right by us w/ their v8 350z and turbo 240. Plus we have a carbon 240 @ the shop you can check out for sure.

Have you dyno'd before? If so, this is THE perfect reason to dyno. You need a baseline stock dyno before doing anything to your car as long as you plan on sticking to that same dyno for future reference and for a proper comparison.

I live in Mission Viejo and work @ the shop here in Huntington Beach. Its about 25 mins north of you, just under 25 miles.

If you're bone stock this would be a good time to create a baseline for yourself so you know more exactly what power you have gained and more importantly WHERE in the RPM range power has been gained/lost.

Im not bone stock i was dyno'd here at 285whp before the Mrev2, on a dyna pack i think its thats high so i wana see what i get on an roller, so thats why im intrested and seeing what my turbo will add once i save up for the tunning and install so.

Well I will certainly be below your dyna pack numbers. Our tuner, Bucky, used to tune almost entirely on dyna pack @ Shawn Church's facility. Here we use our dynodynamics dyno and Bucky sees numbers which are ususally about 10% lower. So, all other things beeing equal I would expect your setup to be around 260whp.

Contributing factors are the presence of your rims and tires, and that dynodynamics use more accurate measure of twisting force, tractive effort, instead of ft/lbs which is variable depending on gearing.
