How would they know where you got the part and if it was new and genuine? Look at all the people who bought up the recalled lights on ebay etc. that were supposed to be destroyed, should they get new lights also?

Actually yes they should. Anyone who bought the recalled lights from ebay is not at fault, the dealership that did not destroy them or send them back to the manufacturer is at fault. The lights should never have had a chance to make it onto ebay if everyone was doing their job. Bottom line is if it's a genuine Nissan part on the car, then it is under warranty and is subject to any recall notices.

I just got my lights replaced over the weekend. I noticed that the cutoff is a lot sharper than before so I'm happy .

I spoke to a guy I know who works at an Infiniti dealership and he said the reason for the recall was NOT due to the fact that the driver side was aimed too

high...It was due to the fact that the FX and G35 coupe lights were too bright...He also said that if you purchased 06 headlights over the counter before

the recall was issued, those lights are not affected because the recall lights were produced before those and are not the same...

Also, if you bought your recalled lights from a private seller and try to get the recall work done they won't do it...they replace the lights according to VIN...

So even if it's a Nissan geniune parts they will not replace it? Then what's the purpose of having recall lights from the beginning? Aren't they trying to replace those non-recalled lights because they risk of blinding oncoming traffic for being too bright/having glares?

Dunno, just don't see the link here.......

They aren't "too bright", how can that be? They use the same bulbs and projectors with the same lenses and shields, nothing has changed except the alignment

I'm happy I did it.

I juuust got mine done and am very happy with the results actually. I noticed a big difference (although I got my 6000K bulbs installed at the same time). My driver's side was never too high to begin with, but both sides are definitely sharper and angled down significantly more. Since my car is slightly lowered with 350z H techs, I think it may be angled a little too low (also since the front is lowered more than the back). I will prob adjust about 2-3 degrees higher when I have time.

Am I satisfied I did it? Yes. Cutoff is sharper and I think the sides of the road are lit up more. Who knows how much brighter these things would've been if I kept my stock bulbs in.

It's probably because they don't want to lose the extra money...because some people illegally sell the recall lights that were supposed to get drilled...Infiniti

wouldn't want to be giving countless sets of new lights in exchange for the same one pair of recall lights...that's why they go by car vin

I'm not saying you have to believe me, but the person I spoke to is reputable to me...So for now I'm going to believe him until it's proved otherwise...

Infiniti dealerships know no more than the recall notice that was sent out to the dealership which mentions the gradient not conforming to dot standards. This has already been posted here previously. Not sure how he interpreted that as "brighter"

I read that recall notice too...it doesn't give an exact answer...The guy I know wasn't just getting his information based on that notice...I even asked him if it

was because the driver side headlight was angled too high...He said no and he was sure it was because they were brighter...Again until there is proof i'm gonna

choose to believe him...

lol...I don't believe him 100%, i don't have any proof that it was due to the brightness...but i believe him more because he's a honest, knowledgeable

guy that actually works for Infiniti...but it's still not 100% and whether it was due to the angling is not 100%...i've looked through here and other forums

and there just isn't any proof except for that recall notice which isn't very clear...vertical gradient = vertical slope or vertical shades from light to

dark..........headlamp photometric values = headlamp light intensity number....from this wording it could possibly be due to the angling or the

brightness...I emailed a few places and I'm gonna see what they have to say...

I bought these "bad 06 recalled" lights from an online Infiniti dealer, I have Nissan/Infiniti paper work, specs, and that little letter of Nissan quality that comes in the oem Nissan boxes. I can't see how they can not replace these lights???

My new G suffers from this problem pretty badly.

The drivers side projectors aim perfectly, and look very neat -- the passengers side, not so much.

I brought it into my dealership and they have made an appointment on Thursday morning for them to inspect it.

How long does this whole process usually take? Do they inspect it, order the replacements, I drive my G until replacements have arrived? How long does the whole switcharoo actually take?

Quite a bit of questions but I want my baby back in my hands as soon as possible!

Thanks.
