i think the problem with those recall headlights are the driver aimed too high.
I got the new g35 and boy the driver is high. I just re-aim it and they should be good. It is so high that it looks like HIGH beam.
no need to bring in the dealer unless your lights are old and want new ones.

Looks like I've got some similar problems. They swapped my headlights while the car was at the dealership for other warranty work (without even telling me - https://g35driver.com/forums/showthread.php?t=155532). My right beam is higher than my left now, but the left used to be higher than the right. And the beams from both bulbs are angled a lot further downward. And I think they broke my damn sidemarker bulb socket! Noticed my right sidemarker wasn't lit this morning, took it out and played around with it, it only lights up if the connection between the socket and wiring harness is at a "sweet spot". Off by a millimeter, the bulb turns off. Just bought a replacement socket online, no way in hell I'm taking it back to the dealer for that.

One thing that I'm REALLY surprised about here is that NOBODY has mentioned anything about what happens if you have a clear bra on your car!?!?!? And FWIW, I just TODAY received my recall notice!

After paying a small fortune to have a clear bra installed, which (at least on my coupe) includes vinyl on the headlights as well, I would TOTALLY expect the dealer to pay for replacing that as well. I can't imagine how bad the front of these cars would look without having the bumper, hood, front edges of the fenders, headlights, front of the mirrors, etc. covered in the protective vinyl. Heck, the paint chips bad enough as it is, CRAP it'd be HORRIBLE without the added protection.

If the lights are too bright I don't have a problem with it. Last thing I want is something that's not as bright, or doesn't have the distance that my coupe has now.

And... whilst we're here... what's the record with you guys and the dealership replacing (IE swapping from the old to the new) your 'new and improved' fog bulbs when they do the headlight housing swap?

Don't know if I'll let them do the headlight swap on mine from what I've read so far. Besides... come August I may just be in a 37 coupe anyways. Finally managed to turn the ol' gal over to 10K yesterday... only took me over 15 months. Then again, that new Camaro looks promising, 1; if the fit and finish actually steps up to te plate, and 2; especially if they'll offer the 6.0 liter fire breathing big block in it.

In my case, they didn't even check the bulbs, pulled out the whole assemblies (including bulbs) and threw them into a box in a storage room. Probably have to tell them about the bulbs up front, or better yet, put the stock bulbs back in before you take the car in.

I also dont want the risk of the stealership messing up my car!! SO BLAH!

Update on the clear bra situation...

After speaking at length with my Service Manager, he said that Infiniti would end up paying for replacing the bra on the headlights if you pushed the situation. "Of course they don't want to, and will not advertise that they are willing to, but be persistant." is what I was told. Remember, while Infiniti didn't force us to put clear bra's on the cars, the Fed's are forcing them to do the recall for "Safety" reasons. So... if we don't let them replace the housings and somebody has a wreck because they were blinded and can blame it on the 'un-recalled' lights, then that puts a HUGE liability on the manufacturer. (Which they don't want, therefore it's possible to talk them into re-imbursing us for replacing the bra material on the headlights.)

Now this will surely be on an individual basis and more than likely based on the owner/dealership relationship, and how you use your car. In other words, if it's a daily driver and has high miles I wouldn't expect them to do anything towards replacing the bra. OTOH, if like many out there, you keep a very clean car, and low miles then they'll take that into account. Mine for instance isn't as low as some, but I just turned 10K in 15 months or so, don't work, and the car has only been in the rain 3 times. (Well, heavy sprinkle once, a little rain once, and raining like all hell the first time.)

The extra bulbs that we tend to 'modify'... That isn't a problem if you MAKE SURE to tell the dealership to swap out your existing fogs, day lights, etc. Leaving a letter with the advisor as well as another copy taped to the steering wheel would be an EXCELLENT idea. Actually I've got a set of 4100K bulbs in mine now, but have another set of PIAA's sitting in the garage that I'd have them put in the new units, while of course they take out the $45 fog bulbs that are already in there. Who knows, I might get lucky and talk them into letting me keep the old housings.

They should, it's an OEM Nissan part that has the problem... and upgrading to the 06 Nissan lights, regardless of where they came from, does not mean they can refuse to perform the recall service. They may bitch and moan about it, but if you push hard enough they have to do it.

That's what I'm thinking. Ultimately I have a so-called "bad" Nissan parts that may put other drivers in danger. Who knows....
