AT shifter will not move out of PARK in to any gears

I have a 2003 Sedan AT, and I have noticed twice within 2 weeks That I am not able to shift out of Park into any gears (R N D). I notice this happens after I drive and the ABS SLIP and VDC OFF light come on while driving. When I stop and turn off the car and restart, the cars starts fine and the ABS SLIP and VDC OFF lights are not lit it is only when I Step on the brakes the lights come back on and I cannot shift out of Park. I would have to try several time then it would seem to have reset it self and i am able to shift out of Park....any ideas...

I also had that problem. It had something to do with a cut wire under the dash. Took it in to the dealer and they fixed it no prob.

I had a similar problem one time on my coupe, but I could shift out of park using the shift lock release. The dealer found my problem to be a blown fuse.

Thanks everyone... I finally took it to the dealership it turns out it was part of a safety recall.. it turns out that the reason for ABS ..SLIP and VDC OFF lights came on they say is because my ABS went bad so they fixed it...thank goodness for warranty
