even if you have the OC its not a headache - just add a quart in between changes. Thats what a trusted service manager told me. Or get it replaced, your call... the headache is finding a shop to do it....
I can get it done too, just on the fence as to whether I want to open a can of worms possibly -

I had done the OC test at one dealership and they said it's normal for these cars to burn oil, which is bullsh!t. I then decided To take it to another dealership and told them my situation. Now my car is getting the replacement short block... I wish I would of done this earlier to get the long block some G35s were getting..

they WILL NOT give out any more longblocks.. Ive tried, but its actually better to get a short block because it was made by a new manufacture with improved/redesigned. A new long block wont solve the problem as it has not been refined like the short block.

thought id post up in here too.... seems that if your OC is bad enough no matter the transmission you can get a short block

few facts: 5AT 07 G coupe was at 40k miles when i was approved, OC consumption rate was 1 quart per 500 miles

i serviced my car myself every 5k with mobile 1 synthetic and kept all my records in the books, infiniti told me i could be denied not having them service the car its whole life which was just a ploy to get me not to push for a replacement

the car has been in the shop since september 26th, a full series of tests followed by a tear down was preformed on my motor and ive been waiting 2 weeks now since the block arrived

Wow, I just completed my test and got approved for a short block (06 sedan 6mt). I had to pull teeth and even use the TSB as proof I qualify and also used as proof I don't need to provide records...its the first step in the process

Ok, I have an '06 5AT (non-revup of course). My last 2 oil changes got the 5 qts of oil going in but just shy of 4 qts came out. I was able to get the whole oil change into a milk jug without fully filling it. That was also an overnight sitting with 5W-30 oil in it. That was just around 3700-4000mi on the oil change. Is this normal? The car only has 37000mi on it.

Id say so the rate is not that much if your only loosing 1 qt after 4k miles

According to Nissan 1qt per 1000miles is normal, it has to exceed that to get a replacement

But let me tell you getting a replacement for a 5at is not a walk in the park

Not too worried then. Still seems like a lot of oil considering my last car consumed ZERO oil consumed. I could put 7 qts in and get 7 qts out after 7500 miles.

Today I got the dreaded news...my car failed the OC test I was at about 67k miles and was about to hit the 6 year warranty period so I thought I'd go to the dealer and get it checked.

Thankfully, my dealership hasn't given me any trouble so far, although its a litte early to say. They told me they've started the process and are waiting for approval from Corporate to get a replacement. I asked the lady if it would be a long block and she said yea its probably a long block but I wouldn't be surprised if she doesn't know what she's talking about lol.

I wanna ask everyone who got a replacement in the last year or so, how do the new engines feel? Some people complained about them being sluggish but not sure if they were referring to the 'new short blocks.' I'm a little bummed cuz of the problems people have faced with the replacements.

And I can't thank this forum and the members enough for all the info people have provided over the years on this issue and on everything else. Its fair to say that without this forum I'd be clueless about my car

I have a 2006 g35 my just started the OC test for some reason I feel like this dealer is going to try to deny that the car is consuming a lot of oil. What can i do if they lie or cheat. Can I take it to another dealer and have the OC test done if previous dealer denys that the is consuming a lot of oil? What can I do to protect myself from void warranty? I know for sure the car is consuming a lot of oil but jthan again is my word against them. Any advice please.

Any indication of the OC issue from a compression leak down test? That would be good info to have. It would be interesting to see if it shows up in a standard test that you could do before purchase of a used G35. I am motivated to know because I thought a G35 6MT was my next car. Now I'm not so sure.

WoW, I just spoke with Maritza from the Infiniti dealer in Montclair and she was such a c_unt! I politely asked her about oil consumption problems these cars have as I'm new to the brand and she was a bitch about it. Should I get used to this type of attitude from Infiniti personnel???

It's unfortunately common. Try another iDealer or Nissan could run the same test.
