Infiniti should offer to buy back any vehicle just like Mazda did with the RX8 HP problem. People were offered the choice of a full refund or something like free maintenance during the warranty period plus 500.00 credit.

My feeling is that Infiniti won't be as credible as Mazda was...just my gut feeling after dealing with them with issues on my 2003 I35 Lemon wanna be.

Do you guys think it's really necessary to have LSD for an automatic to race off the start? I'm trying to decide whether it's worth the extra money to get the sport suspension package on a new 05 AT.

Just demand VLSD to be installed on your cars and be done with it. (make sure it has full powertran warranty obviously) I think $900 would be a reasonable cash settlement as well. Demanding a full refund and a new vehicle is alittle over the top IMO.

Either way Infiniti needs to own up to their mistakes and RECALL these stickers ASAP!!!! (I still saw them at the dealership as of last week)

Thanks!

I'm one of the few unfortunate owners who took early delivery of the '05 Coupe with the Performance Package. It's my understanding that approx. less than 100 people are affected nationwide. Infiniti offered me $300 CAN provided that I sign a Goodwill Agreement keeping it's terms confidential AND releasing Infiniti and it's dealers from any future claims. I'm going to DEMAND a refund of the full cost of the package. That is the very least we're entitled to. To think that I can be bought for a mere $300 is insulting. I'm test driving the Coupe with the Sport Package this week and if I like it I'll be leasing it after handing in my current G. Unfortunately I will have to put down $4500 (that's 4 months depreciation for you). It's the only way I'm going to get a Coupe with VLSD under full warranty. I'm very interested in hearing how other members have been dealt with.

I don't think an LSD is what you're looking for to do a proper launch. Perhaps a TQ Converter would be more useful for that purpose. An LSD would be most useful through a curve to keep power/TQ distributed properly to both wheels so that one does not lose traction any more than the other since the wheel on the inside of the turn will have different attributes than the one on the outside.

Actually a LSD will help you launch, without it only one of the rear wheels will be doing all the work and the other one will just be along for the ride. Now I dont know how effective a viscous type LD is in doing this but I have a clutch type ( positraction) or trak-lok as ford calls it and it works as i have described above.

What can you do?

I hate to get political, but it really isn't. This is exactly the kind of situation that calls for the threat of a class action lawsuit to get them to compensate fully for your loss. Before Congress changed the laws after the vigorous lobbying of big corporations, you could have brought suit in state court as a class and had a lot more clout to force Infiniti to settle. Especially if you could prove they knew about it and did not inform the customer. This is exactly what punitive damages are for, to impose consequences for any fraudulent action (if any had occurred). But now, you would have to take it to federal court which makes it more difficult for many reasons. And you could have done this with a law firm that would not get all the money, i.e. you could have a contract up front that you would get the full cost of a new VLSD + labor minimum. As it is, several of you in one state could still join together and bring suit in your state. BTW I am not a lawyer, I just wanted to point out that our rights with respect to corporations have been whittled away under the guise of protecting society from frivolous lawsuits.

If you think that any lawyer would even think about seeking punitive damages in this case, then you are sadly mistaken. Compensatory damages, yes, punitive NO WAY!

if you guys drove your cars for weeks/months and didnt know you were missing the LSD, then stop whining about it - you aren't using it anyway. To know if you have it, just launch the car hard - if there is 2 stripes on the street then you have a lsd, if just one stripe, then you dont have an lsd. If you cant burn out in the first place then you dont need the lsd anyway. If you are going to tell me that it will help in the snow...well i guess it will a little, but you should have snow tires on there anyway instead of the summer tires that come with that package.

I think you ought to research your state's consumer protection act before you make that sort of a statement. I know of at least two states that provide for statutory damages as well as treble damages and attorney's fees in these sorts of cases. These damages are not compensatory; they are punitive since you need not actually prove ANY damages whatsoever. Multiple that by multiple defendents, and I AM CERTAIN that several attorneys would jump at the opportunity. In fact, I could file a claim based solely on the fact that their it is a false advertisement even though I didn't even purchase anything. Additionally, it makes no difference if the def. knew of the false statement or tries to remedy the situation, it is a strict liability statute.

Everyone who has auto w/perf needs to DEMAND that the LSDs be retrofitted. This is such a huge mistake, especially considering the amount of power this car has to put to the ground.
