So for potential '05 auto G buyers, the only way to get the VLSD is to purchase the optional sport tuned suspension package?

i think thats stupid since there is no point in paying for their 19" rims since i would replace them later anyway. All i care about is the LVSD, and now they don't even offer it with the wheel and tire package.

Makes me don't want to purchase an infitity anymore.

2005 G35 Coupe auto w/ Performence pkg

Hi Guys,

I have just purchased a G35 Auto with the performance package here in Vancouver Canada, The cost of the Performance pkg here is $1500 canadian. Its been two days since I have purchased the car and come to know of this issue. I called infiniti this morning and the customer service rep checked it out and say that in his "system" the canadian model still shows that the VLSD is included with the performence pacakge. The infiniti.ca also claims the same thing. Since we have snow on the ground here I noticed when I slip a indicator flashes a "slip" sign over the speedometer. Does this indicate a VLSD ?

Do you think the american and canadian models could be different or that canadians market is still uninformed about this mistake ?

Thanks

Anyone have an updates on their situations?

I called infiniti the other day, the offered me $250 at first and to sign some release form.

I said unacceptable. Then they offered more, but I'm still not done yet.

The Sport-Tuned Suspension Package ($1600 MSRP $1379 Invoice) includes:
-Sport-tuned shock absorbers and springs.
-19-inch forged aluminum-alloy wheels.
-P225/40R19Y front and P245/40R19Y rear high-performance tires.
-Viscous Limited Slip Differential (VLSD).
-Aluminum pedals.
-Perforated leather seats and unique orange stiching on steering wheel

Dealers have had to return all G35 Coupe brochures to Nissan and wait for new ones to print. They are very aware of the problem. You should have gotten what you asked for. If Infiniti were anything like Mazda they should offer installation of a VLSD to those owners of '05's that were duped. I would not accept anything less or my money back.

i went to a dealer last wednesday (1/19/05) and they gave me a brochure that has the VLSD as part of the sport-tuned suspension package

I asked the same question a few pages ago, I guess no one wants to answer that question though. I can't find any detailed info on it, all I can find is that it is limited slip system, but how does it differ from just regular limited slip? Please, Anyone..........?

nevermind......i was confusing myself between the sport-tuned suspension package and the performance tire and wheel package.

btw, the brochure also states that the performance package has VLSD....so they haven't gotten the new ones yet.

The "slip" light means that the Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) is in operation. The light has nothing to do with the differential.

New buyer-same issue

Well,

just purchased my 2005 coupe yesterday... love the car... Got the Performance Tire & Wheel Package.. for $900 including VLSD!

Surfing for more info on the car came across here (looks like a great community) . Called my dealer, and no idea about the VLSD problem, called Infiniti, sure enough, no VLSD as advertised. They had me send them a copy of my Window sticker, which did show that it was sold that way (and the lady confirmed that she needed that to proceed) So apparently the word has not gotten out to all the dealers yet....

She's calling me back tomorrow to let me know what my options are.

Ross

what they offer you - users effected list

Initially offered $250 - the cost of the item
After further conversation the next offer was the cost of the package plus tax ($900+tax).
Haven't agreed to anything.
What do you think of the offer. I'm thinking that's still not enough.

Actually, this HAS been answered several times. First off, this link has been posted at least 3 times: How Stuff Works - VLSD

And if you aren't willing to read that, here's the gist, for about the 5th time in this thread:

VLSD basically allows the transmission to shift torque back and forth between the two wheels when it senses that one wheel is slipping.

Example 1)You're at a stoplight and your left wheel in on a patch of ice, the LSD can shift the power to the right wheel so you still have traction.

Example 2) You are powering through a sweeping right hand turn, so your outside (left) wheel has to spin faster than your inside (right) wheel - your LSD can shift slightly more torque to the outside wheel, since it has to spin and faster and should have better traction (more weight distributed over that wheel).

The V(iscous) means it uses liquid between plates (as opposed to clutches, for example) to accomplish its job. If you don't have VLSD, you have an open differential. This allows the wheels to spin at different rates (as in example 2), but it has no mechanism for applying power to the good wheel when one loses traction - i.e. it's much easier to get "stuck" or spin out on ice/slick surfaces.

I wonder how many more times this question will be asked in this very thread.

Could someone volunteer to demand more than the 900 + taxes?
900 would take care of a nismo clutchtype LSD
can someone volunteer to ask 500 + 600 more for labor to have it installed?
I would but I told them i'd take the 900+ tax already. but i havent signed anything yet..

Like tell them the 900 would cover an LSD but you want a bit more for labor to have it installed.

Let me know what goes on.
