EU will help tune what you have now, but don't expect a lot. It can also be used with FI and works very well. I used it with my Vortech and am now using it with my Greddy TT. Utec is overrated imo. All piggybacks are essentially the same.

What kind of #'s you looking to put out with your FI setup? If you're going real big, then everyone seems to dump Utec's in favor of F-Con's. You can also wait for Cobb. Heard good stuff about these guys. If money burns a hole in your pocket, get the Utec.

With your mods the Utec will help out a ton. (around 20 additional hp with that and a tune.). You can also retune it once you go FI. If you live in VA come up to MD and talk to the AAM guys. They are one of the top G and Z tuners in the country.

PLUS you get VALET MODE & ANTI THEFT mode with the UTEC.

you have to cut wires from ECU to install greddy emanagement.. yikes! if youre under warranty.

Do not believe this. Some people have gotten 20hp, but not all by any means. My utec+tune netted me 9hp at peak, and that tuned by Sharif@ForgedPerformance, on a load based dyno.

The results you will see on a tune are 100% based on the current tune of your stock ecu. Some ecu's self-adjust better than others. Some cars will come into a shop running dangerously lean, like 15:1 or more. Some cars come in running rations that would suit a supercharger, like 11:1 or less. In these extreme cases, one might net 20hp or more.

In my case, my ecu was self-adjusted to the point that my a/f's were almost ideal up top. I saw more gains in the midrange than I did up top.

Don't even waste your time with the EU if you are planning on going FI. The EU and the UTEC operate in completely different ways and are very different.

The UTEC will control fuel and spark directly, and doesn't rely on modifying hte MAF voltage (in speed density mode), which the OEM ECU can compensate for. The UTEC can also remove the rev limiter and eliminate the speed limiter.

Just to point something out, that's never a good thing. Raising it by, say 500 rpms as an ECU reflash might do makes sense. But removing... possibly R.I.P engine for those who don't control the revs as easy as some do.

Anyhow, as it already has been stated, UTEC is worth it if you plan on going FI in the future. As for me, Ill be getting an ECU Reflash (TS) as soon as I have enough bolt-ons.

But I also plan on getting a UTEC in the future, as I will be going FI after graduation college.

.

That has always made the most sense to me. Get the reflash for the Rev limit increase, speed limit removal, 100% throttle to redline, and the dyno derived air/fuel ratio for N/A. Then add the UTEC piggy once the FI goes in to control ignition and further fine tune the fuel. Done.
