Wow Steve, looks like you did some research, thanks for the post and honesty. I do stuff like that and get yelled at for looking like I'm grand standing.

If there is a Tuning shop in your area that you think is trustworthy and has a good reputation, I'd love to hear from them. It would be nice to have a Pro Tuner in CT. 370Z and G37 software should be available shortly.

 

Chris at EFI in CT is one of the best and most trustworthy tuners with a specialization in Mustangs and Subies, Mitsu, best I know of here for Subies, period.

I was doing research on the Cobb AP, and I ran into stevez's critique on the cobb. I also checked out Cobbs forum and found an apology by a "steve tracey" for his slanderous words. Is this the same person?

Thought I cross posted back here, sorry. While many of the first impressions are either fact or true to my experience (no support, no software at the time after a year, rev limiter wasn't taking, etc.) the stalling and rough running were only due to the preloaded maps exposing other weaknesses:

which also afflicted my car and was causing some major issues. Trevor Cobb offered me a return and full refund, but at the time I didn't take him up on it because it just didn't seem like I could be sure there wasn't something else going on. I waited a few months and then found the problems detailed both in my COBB forum posts.

Read all my posts on COBB and you can see why I felt I owed them an apology, the lack of support was frustrating, but the tuner software has recently been released, I think you'll start seeing some results posted.

Violated the cardinal rule of tuning - make sure everything else is in good condition and running properly beforehand. With stock tune I had problems masked by its conservative tune, with a more aggressive tune all hell broke loose.

Software is out, car is running still on a Stage 2+ map and runs well, but I have to book time with EFI in Bethel to get a tune from Chris if I want to ensure I'm getting the most out of the car.

It ain't "slander" if it is true, as it was at the time. I reported exactly what was happening. I was wrong about the ultimate cause which is why I felt an apology was in order. The lack of tuning software at that time delayed resolution, too.

I'm curious how these are doing now that the pro-tuning software is out. There's a pro-tuner in my area, but I dont know if its worth the investment for me when I dont plan much beyond maybe a plenum spacer and exhaust.

Anyone out there have any experience with the custom tunes?
