!!G35Driver.com MEGA-Meet Location Poll!!
I just googled maps it and its about a 15 hour drive for me. I could get up about 6am and just buzz down the interstate. Be there by evening. Have the meet the next day, then drive home 2 days after that or something.
We could do it in August of 2010. How does that sound? Is that enough time or what?

You know Janik, maybe a better way to figure out the location would be to ask people what is the maximum distance they could drive for a national G35Driver meet, maybe something like: <500, ~500, ~1000, ~1500, ~2000, >2000 then add links for each location in Google maps so they can see how far each place is for them. If you do this make sure people understand to pick the distance rounded closest to their actual distance from a location. IOW, if a location they would be willing to go to is 1100 miles, vote 1000 not 1500.
You may also want to do this, not as a poll, but instead, by people posting their responses along with their approximate location. For example:
I'm in NW Florida, and I would be willing to drive about 1000 mi
That tells you what locations would work for me.
For you on the other hand, driving 1000 mi would cover a lot more of the country, because you're more centrally located, where as I'm off in the SE corner.
Once you get an idea of how far everyone will drive, pick a city that the greatest number of people can drive to.
This would also keep people from picking locations just because of the city. It should be about the meet, not the city the meet happens to be in.

If that makes it easier for some people, i am sure we could figure something out.
I think the real question is, how many people can we expect? Like i know theres a few for sure that would drive just about anywhere, but if theres a large group that will only do Vegas, then that will dwindle down our number count pretty quickly.

^ I thought about suggesting that, but we really should know for sure from Nissan before we make TN an option. I'd hate to waste a bunch of votes on TN then have Nissan fall through.
im trying not to be biased here, but i still don't see why there are seconds thoughts if vegas is winning i assume people voted for were they would want to go, so whats the point in asking again were they want to go? didn't they JUST vote for that?
i mean ok yah its not fair for east coast people, but the results show the general consensus

^ What about those who voted Vegas just because it was the closest, or they wanted to party, but they would actually be willing to drive to a more central location? The poll doesn't address that at all, that's why I recommended we find out how far people would drive rather than just asking their favorite city. If it's in Vegas, it's going to almost entirely isolate the East Coast, and that's really not a national meet, for that matter TN isn't exactly fair on the West Coast either.

so why a poll in the first place? just say ok we'll have one in texas
im not trying to rain down on this, because i want this as much as you guys, but it seems as if the popular choice isn't what you guys want, so just pick a place then
lmao what is thread now, a fuccin election?
this reminds me of those propositions in California last year where people were like "yeeah!!! lets have the people vote on this, the people's voice should be accounted for!" "ROCK THE VOTE YO!"
and then when the proposition passes against their will, they're the same people who are pissed off saying things like "unfair proposition!"
double standard much?
if you're such a proponent of majority rules then accept the results because the people have spoken.

well texas is on there, so why would people who are willing to drive out to texas NOT pick it? you guys had a poll and now aren't happy with the results, ok so have two meets, but that still seems to be a problem

I'm sure plenty voted Vegas because it's the closest, or because they want to party or whatever.
It's a problem inherent to the polling method itself, not really with the poll. Really the poll was premature... but it kindof started as just a feeler anyway.
There are several things that need to be nailed down before an official poll on the location is put up:
Nissan should be contacted to find out if TN is even an option (why even go there if Nissan won't play???)
A small board of members, G35Driver staff, and regional club reps should discuss possible locations and limit the final number to 3 or 4.
Venues in each city need to be decided upon, and consideration should be made for parking/traffic/hotels/etc...
The board will need to get an idea of how many members there are in certain areas like the NE or SoCal that want to attend, also find out how far members will be willing to drive from their own home area, so they can choose locations that will result in the most people actually being able to make it.
THEN, once they have chosen 3-4 locations, post them in a poll along with the pros/cons of each location so people can make an educated vote. Also, the vote should be setup so that the results are not shown until after the member has voted, or even until after the poll has ended.
nfsp1 i understand your point of view as well and understand your efforts, but we don't want it to get SO complicated you know? if people are really willing to go further than vegas than do a poll without vegas there and see if the same amount of people first of all vote and then vote for a place somewere in the middle
but i kinda see this getting a bit TOO complex you know? might have to sacrifice some things in order to at least get 2 regional meets AT BEST, better than never agreeing on one you know?
