Well spoke to my service advisor as to what will they do when it's time to update the HD for the navi. He told me that they would buy the software and any other hardware needed(from the 3rd party) and charge customers about 200-300 to install the update either via bluetooth or the CF slot with a CF card thats connected to the 3rd party hardware. We'll see what happens.

Wow...$200-$300 is pretty steep in my opinion. I would hope that if anything happens to your HD after upgrading, that they will reinstall the latest version since you've already paid for the upgrade. Also, I'm sure someone will find a way to distribute the update to the masses...

200-300 compared to paying 400-500 for the DVD upgrade(in the previous G's) seems reasonable. I agree, they probably will update it for free(if youve allready paid them previously) if the HD would ever fail or get damaged.

Yeah...I was gonna say that the DVD for my brother's CL was like $185....$400-$500 would be insane!

All of us on this board can chip in $1. We'll buy it and make copies, whether it's BT of CF. Shhh.....

Did I read that earlier post correctly? They said there would not be a data-update for the Nav system until November 2007?

That kinda sux. There are some major new freeways (toll roads, blech) that opened up in the last few months here in Austin that have been under construction (i.e. known about) for a couple of years, but they're not showing up on the maps in my brand new car.

From what I understand, there has always been a yearly update to the Navi software on the G35. Since the new G was released only in November of 06, an updated released of software for November 07 makes sense to me.

Hopefully this doesn't end up being the case and we will be able to update it ourselves.
Then it looks like it goes back to what I was told by my service advisor. Just gotta wait and see.

I just hope this updates the voice navigation too. I get this voice message way too much, "You are entering areas with unknown or incomplete map data, voice prompts will not work in these areas, please refer to your map".

And to think, my Garmin Street Pilot 2610 w/Navteq updates for $75 per cycle. And, the coverage is quite detailed.
