XM Radio switches to channel 1
XM Radio switches to channel 1
In the last week or so while listening to XM on my 2008 Premium/Nav system the XM channel switches to channel 1 by itself. It appears to do this for a momentary loss of signal. It worked perfectly before, this is definitely new behavior. I park in a garage at home and work, so it looses signal at each end of my commute, and before today it always stayed on the same channel and returned to playing when I drove out and signal returned. Now it's switching to channel 1 when this happens. Even driving under an overpass seems to do it from time to time. The presets also act wierd in this situation, say Preset 1 is channel 41, and while driving it switches to channel 1. If I hit the preset 1 button it stays on channel 1. If I hit preset 2 which is XM channel 42, then channel 42 starts playing. If I then hit preset 1 then channel 41 starts playing. I had XM in my 2005 for about 3 years before this, and it's been a couple months since I bought the 2008 and I've never had anything like this happen. I drive the car and listen to XM every day, so it's not just something I didn't notice before. Any ideas? I hate to bring it in for something this simple, especially if it's just bad guide data or activation issues with XM. The good thing is it's fairly easy to replicate.
Interestingly, mine also went to Ch.1 yesterday afternoon (Normally have it on 71). I haven't checked this morning but i just chalked it up to the signal loss issue. I did not experience that other issue you pointed out, however.
If my subscription wasn't active I don't think I would be able to tune back to the to pay channels and listen to them. I can listen to all the channels fine. When it switches to channel 1, I can tune it right back to the pay channel it was on. This is definitely different than a radio without XM activated. I'm going to park the car in the driveway and have XM resend the authorization for my radio and see if that makes a difference.
I found this:

It looks like we aren't the only ones, and it looks like something they did, not something with the receivers. Now to see if they will fix it. Calling customer service appears to be a waste of time, after waiting for ten minutes in the queue they took my information and then hung up on me. I've sent them a trouble report in email.

I have also had the same issue but mine only happens when I have on the "B" presets all if which are in the 40's and 50's channel wise. When I am on "A" or "C" presets I do not have this issue, weird huh. So I wonder if it has something to do with a certain satellite. Thanks for the info about calling being a waste of time. If anyone FMCS a resolution let us know.
