Same size

I recently purchased a 07 Sport and (living in Nebraska) am planning for next winter. Will need all- season tires. What are the consequences, if any, of going to the same size tires all around so that they could be rotated?

I took delivery of my car in late November 2006 and had to put snows on immediately. I wound up buying a cheap set of 17" non-staggered wheels for my snows (. Aside from the obvious performance hit, there are no issues whatsoever.

I bought a set of cheap Kazera KZC wheels, 17x7.5, and mounted Michelin Pilot Alpins to them (225/55-17). Shipped cost for the full set was just about $1,100 (without TPMS). The wheels are actually similar in style and design to the stock sport wheels. After 2 winters on NJ roads, the wheels have held up better than I expected.

Just put my OEM 050A Potenzas back on for summer. As I reported above, Goodyear F1s were a surprise this winter. Much better than expected, especially in hard rain and light snow.

Now that i have the Potenzas back on I can feel that they weren't balanced at all. Slight steering wheel chatter above 50 MPH, though alignment feels fine. Finding a good shop for balancing is a challenge here in NYC. Maybe I'll just go to a franchise operation like Gannon.

I've been doing research on tire for my new wheels on order and noticed the wear rating on the stock Bridgestones is 140!! 200 to 220 seems really short but 140, d@mn! No wonder people are getting 12,000 miles per set. Pay attention to tread rating when you buy. If you are doing track days sure shorter tread is better, but for a daily commuter, find something with more tread life. Many AS tires are rated at 400. I know it's like apples and orange -all season vs. summer tires. But no way am I spending $1000 per year on tires.

There are so many factors to consider when purchasing tires. It really depends on how you drive, where you live, and how long those Bridgestones lasted you. Since you didn't supply us with this information, we're going to have to make assumptions.

You drive a G35S A/T so you're somewhat of an enthusiast I'm guessing...

I would say either go with the Michelin PS2, Bridgestone RE050A pole-positions, or goodyear eagle f-1 if you're a spirited driver.

If you're more worried about tire tread and making them last forever, then go with some all-season tires.

Tire brands don't really make that much of a difference...tire technology really isn't the most advanced technology on earth or anything and a lot of the different tire manufacturers do not have major differences. It's not like one tire is a Bentley and the other is a Kia. They're all major players in today's market and all make great tires.

You never mentioned any information about yourself to diagnose which tire would be right for you, so it's a tough call.

However, I will be going with Bridgestone tires again because I am biassed toward them and they have my business for life until they F me.
