I was wondering, i think the 1st gen guys use the coupe springs to lower their car, and also the coupe guys use 350z springs to lower their car. So i was wondering, Has anyone tried to put the G37 coupe's springs on their car? If it's any lower, i think it might be a good set up, with a slight drop and a spring rate to match the car's design....

It sounds like the G35 coupe springs will only give the sedan a .5 " drop. So I guess the question is are the G35 coupe and G37 springs the same height?

 

I've been talking to a guy who's '07 G35S is sitting on 350Z springs. I haven't seen it in person yet but he says that it sits perfect. I'd assume the G37 spring have to be close to the 350Z springs, no?

 

I don't know b/c the 350z is made smaller and lighter than the G35 (1st gen) and is more "sport" tuned (though they are about the same). That's y those guys use it to drop their car. Now with the 2nd gen sedan, i would think though the springs would fit the car, the spring rates would be different. The G37 might be a better match, OR we can wait a year for the 370Z to come out and use their springs!!

 

I tried to find the post...but I couldn't find it anywhere. Someone with better searching skills I'm sure will pull it up. But someone did this with the 350Z springs, and they actualy didn't make that much of a difference. I'm almost positive rear went down about 1/4 inch and the front didn't do anything.

Doesn't make any sense to me...but the results were something along those lines.

ok, well i found a set of G37 springs, and the guy is local, i want to buy them, but i'm wondering if y'all think its going to drop the car any? And if so, about how much. It it stays the same height, i don't want to waste my money, so any input is appreciated..

 

I'd be curious to see how G37 coupe springs drop a sedan, but I don't think the springs would necessarily match the G35 shocks/struts.

The coupe is almost 200 lbs heavier than the sedan, plus, if they're G37S springs, they should be stiffer than on a G35S.

Yesterday I went and compared the G37S springs to a set of stock 07 Sedan Journey springs and the G37 springs are a tad bit shorter. I'd say they were about 1/2" shorter in the rears and a little bit less than 1/2" in the front. I should have taken pics to post.

Then you gotta consider the whole spring rate comparison into the equation as well with the Sport springs being stiffer. So I came to the conclusion that it wouldn't be enough of a drop for me.

I was reading up on this yesterday and apparently the Z springs don't lower the 2nd gen sedans in the front at all so it's no longer an option for the 07 and up guys. Here was the thread I found about that:

sure, the drop isn't there with the fronts, but I wonder if there's an improvement in body roll. that'd be great for us guys who want a little better handling w/o really dropping it. He never did say how much drop he was getting with the Z springs in the rear.

 

But the other reason for dropping is to get rid of the wheel gap.
The gap in the front is bigger in the front than in the rear so I'd vote against those springs.

I want to drop badly, but I put a ton of miles on my car. The cost to play would be tires every year and my suspension would be gone in a few years as well.

Coilovers may be in my future.... we'll see.

 

my problem with lowering is clearance. i need the stock or as close to stock clearance for the nasty roads I have to go down often. hell, i rubbed the other day in downtown McKinney..... bullchit i tell you. i've been looking at the impuls, but the $$$ is hard to get over. I have the sways, the strut bar and tire/wheel combos, not sure what else to do to help the handling w/o putting in new springs. i'd love some d specs and think that would be the ticket, but they're not out for our car.
