^ I understand about the X fronts.
They may not be a fun experience.
The rear mounts on the other hand are dead easy.
A floor jack, a 17mm box end wrench & a 17mm socket are all you need.
I just sliced another 1/4" of the perch after work.... total time < 1hr.

......G35XQX1 swears by the Eibachs. He says he has no problem whatsoever clearing the snow and stuff. Although, he has damaged his front chin spoiler and his undercarriage, if I recall correct, cuz he couldnt avoid a huge ice block on the road. lol
And that does sometime happen, you cant avoid something on the road unless you crash into the other cars. There will always be potholes, some bigger than others, and ya... :S .....

Sounded pretty bad, I saw I cracked the little plastic oil filter door, and sounds like it hit somewhere behind me on drivers side but didnt see any other damage so far during my crawling trips under the car.Just in case that makes you feel better about dropping, even if you dont drop u might hit something..... Gluck on the decision.
Any updated pics Ian with the new work on the rubber mounts?
I have a local meet on the 25th. One of the guys has an 07 G35X sitting on Eibachs.
He's from CT and if he's getting around okay, why can't I?
I'm gonna have a long talk with him, get his input and take a very long hard look at his car.
I'll make a final decision after that.

I'll try and meet up with them as well to see the drop in person. Although, that may not be till our meet which isnt till May 31.
Also, in total, how much did you slice off the rubber mount?
Humm the new X's must be way different then the 04-06 because I have changed out my fronts alot and never had a shaft coming out. Also just to add, if someone can live without their car for maybe a month or 2 you can always send your fronts to a company and they will do R&D and make a coilover for the X. I did this with my front. I sent it to BC Racing. Who knows, the ones they make for my car could work with your gen. But not sure how much heavier the new X are to the old.

That was one of my goals with this.

I just had an idea. I dont know if this will work or if its okay to do, but for those X owners who dont want an aggressive drop, is it possible to use eibach springs and then put spring boosters on all 4 corners? To increase your height a lil bit?
If yes, what is the maximum height that is okay for spring boosters?

Trust me, I thought I didnt want an aggressive drop on my 04 x but once I did it, never want to go back. LOL
BTW once BC racing finishes making the coilover for my car, any second gen X that lives in Wa state can try on my coilovers to see if will work. I will do the install for nothing.

I wouldn't use a coil booster though.
On the front strut, there is an upper rubber mount, then the top plate.
It may be possible to put a donut in between.
Just for the record, I am now loving my Tanabe springs... dropped the car about .90" on all four corners, so the drop is moderate, but not extreme. That said, if I had to do it all over again, I would probably go with the Eibach's... I originally thought I didn't want to drop my car that much, but now every time I see a car on Eibach's, I look over at my car and think it's too high. LOL... Guess I'll just have to wait for the TEIN coil-overs to come out to lower the car some more.
Incidentally, I've heard that if you use the G37 Coupe Eibach springs on the V36 sedan, then you will get slightly less of a drop than with the sedan fitment Eibachs... I met a guy that did this and he estimated the drop at around 1.2" up front and 1" in the rear. Whether this is fact or fiction, that I cannot confirm, but I can tell you that the guy I talked to at Eibach did say that the coupe springs would work on the sedan, and the only difference between the two fitments is that the coupe spring rates were slightly higher than the sedan's and the coupe springs were also slighly shorter... I was going to try this myself, but have decided to stick with the Tanabe's until I end up going with some coil-overs.
Like someone else mentioned, you could always use the Eibach sedan springs and get some thicker spring isolators from Energy Suspension... They make the proper diameters for both front and rear fitments and offer several different thicknesses from 1/4" thick to 5/8" thick. Just another option to think about.

Your car looks sooooo much better than some of the earlier Tanabe installs.
Thanks for the nice words...
Yeah, I don't know why the drop seems to vary so much from car to car. When I called Tanabe and asked them, they said that the other guys were most likely using either the DF210 model springs, which will drop the car more, or they were using the NF210 springs for the 1G sedan fitment, since the NF210's for the V36 sedans weren't available until November or December '08. I was told that many places were actually selling the Tanabe springs for the 1G sedans for use on the 2G sedans (just like H&R does) until they actually came out with 2G specific fitments. Either way, I'm happy with how the drop turned out on my car... just wish is was maybe .1 - .2" lower. LOL.. maybe I'll have to try cutting down the factory front and rear sping isolators slightly like you did.
