Brake Pads
#16
I don't understand how some of you guys can go so long without having to change the pads. My car has gone 15k KILOMETERS!!! and they need replacing very soon.
Would this be down to weather over here? (usually between 27-35c), or is it the way we drive here, 90% of the time I'm at 100-120 kph (62-75 mph)

^ 15K kilometers is less than 10K miles, that's crazy wear and I can't see the weather being the reason for this. And if your driving style isn't constant stop-n-go, then this is something that needs an in-depth looking into.
I am planning to replace my rear brakes with OEM pads at 30 K, at 50/50 city/highway. I do what I can to avoid hitting the brakes unnecessarily, and can't say that I push the car all that often yet they're worn already. The fronts have at least 5K left in them.

- You're riding on your brakes
- Your calipers are stuck
- You have bad pads
- You're overly aggressive on the brakes

I found the OEM pads to wear unevenly. What I mean by this is that one pad wears quicker than the other. While this can sometimes be caused by sticking calipers, this is not the case in my car. The calipers are all in great shape.
The difference is not alarming, but it did cause me to change the pads before I felt it was time.
I hope to have better results with the ceramics I now have installed.

That's exactly what I was running into. Hawk has them listed, but everyone seems to carry the rears only.

I had Carbotech Bobcat's for my previous car, a 2002 Subaru WRX sedan, and they performed much better than the OEM pads without any added noise or dusting...I'm thinking of getting them for this car.

I believe they both are. If i'm not mistaken, the non-Sport G37 uses the same brake hardware as the G35 Sport.
And if i am, i would go by what Hawk says.
By the way, i forgot, which model do you have? I'm checking Tirerack for an '07 sedan sport and they don't have any fronts listed for Hawk.
