Your best bet, for performance, is blank rotors. I've read a lot of good reviews of the OEM pads working just fine on the track so you could theoretically go that route again. Hawk HPS, based on my experience, works just ok when heated up and less than stellar compared to OEM in daily driving.

Yea, the Akebonos are gorgeous but out of my price range

I won't answer that
But i will say, i've read some pretty good feedback on the stock "S" brake system on the track. I think the hardware itself is pretty robust, and if you need to, you can always go with Carbotech pads and work your way up the ladder.
Can't beat the allure of those Akebono's though.
