nail on side of tire..what to do?

I have a nail on my rear passenger tire. The nail is very close to the sidewall which the tire shop has told me it cannot be repaired and they do not carry Goodyear eagel rsa 225/55/17. They have advised me to go to another shop replace the one tire.

My question is I have a G35X with close to 30000 KM on it. Can i replace just the one tire? Will a new tire throw off the AWD system as it will have a larger diameter?

PIC? you may want to replace the other driver side rear tire as well. why would you get a tire with a larger diameter?

You can get one new tire AS long as the other old tires have 6/32nd or more of tread on them.

I had a tire go bad and I decided to change both because it just felt weird with one. I say get one, if you don't like the feel of it, order another one.

it's all depends on how much longer your other tires gonna last.

If it's another 5K then replace all of them

if it's 20k then you might wanna look into flat repair kit or used tire.

This is what I would do, unless you don't like the tire like others mentioned, replace the set or all four. I am trying to find a reason to replace my stockers, I'm not a fan of 'em, but dropping the $500+ doesn't give me a thrill either.

30k KM = ~19k miles is a lot already. I think you need to replace at least 2 but you might just change all 4. If you're near Costco's or Sam's, you can a good deal there when you buy 4 tires.

If it's near or on the sidewall, than replace do not repair.
The sidewall goes through lost of stress & flexing, it's not worth the safety risk, IMO.

If you do stick with Goodyear or with Gemini Service (they carry Dunlops and Michelins as well) go for the $14 per tire road hazard.

Had the same issue as you - nail on the edge - replaced the tire and within a month - GOT ANOTHER NAIL! New tire for free...

+1

The difference in diameter is minor. Change 1 unless you're close to changing them all.
