The other weird thing is that you burnt out your dremel. If you use it right, you let the speed and bit do the work...try not to put too much strain on the dremel. I actually bought 2 bits because I heard that some used more than one, but one was all I needed--the bit still looked like new after. I think that metal is just aluminum alloy. I used the flex extension with mine.

On the 1st gen G the rear subframe was aluminum. Dremel is able to elongate the holes easily. The 2nd gen cars have a steel subframe which will take a lot more work to grind/Dremel.

lol ok I'm not clear on when the cut off period for 1st and 2nd gen are

But how come he had such an easy time elongating his hole and I fried my dremel after an hour on one hole?

Do dremels come in different power ratings or something? could it be that I just had a weak dremel?

and here's something to cheer you guys up: -------> https://g35driver.com/forums/lounge-...secretary.html

OK, my mistake about the steel...I guess that's why it's painted black. Still, I had no trouble with a dremel, the flex extension, and one carbide bit. Just take your time.

I took a whole damn hour on one hole I think that's taking your time

Can you tell me which dremel you have and the model? I want to check up on the power rating and see if mine was crap....oh yeah I also have to check if I was using the right wattage.

My dremel says 300-1/40T. The flex shaft fits a lot of models. I swear, it only took 5 minutes a hole! I put it on a fast speed if that make any difference and made sure not to let it bog down.
