ABS, VDC, SLIP lights on after rotor/brake install
I just had a shop install brand new r1 concept premium rotors and hawk performance brake pads. as soon as the car was turned on, the vdc, abs, and slip lights all came on. this has happened in the past and i took my car into the infiniti dealership, to be charged 60 dollars to run a diagnostics and reset the codes.
i checked my brake fluid and it is topped off. brake pads are brand new.
from reading different threads, i am guessing something could have gone wrong during installation and the brake sensor is not functioning properly? i am hoping this is a fix, someone can give me directions to self-fix.
unfortunately, the install shop is an hour away and i dont want to pay another 60 dollars to infiniti to reset my codes. =(
thanks in advance

its possible they damaged a sensor. have you tried just pulling the battery or performing a computer reset? i don't have the link handy but if you do a forum search there is an easy procedure for resetting the computer.
and not for anything but if this happened as soon as you turned on the car didn't you insist they fix it?

tried an ECU reset already. I took the car to the stealership today and they wouldnt even bother to diagnose the problem unless I paid $120.
The service advisor "guessed" that it was the left ABS sensor, because 6 months ago, when I took the car in with the same lights, they thought it was the ABS sensor. After they switched the right sensor to the left side, and nothing happened, the lights magically went away. I had to pay $60 at the time for work that didn't for sure fix the problem, but rather them stumbling upon a remedy.
I am going to take the car back to the install place on Thursday, and if they cant fix the lights, I really dont know where to go from there....

ok so thats new info....this is a repeat problem and it went away when they swapped sensors. are you mechanically inclined? if so you could just swap them back and hope it goes away or just buy a new sensor and replace it.

Don't all those lights come on when your brake fluid is low? What sensor monitors that? If it's an ABS sensor, I would think an OBDII code shows up. DO not just go swapping parts. An OBDII reader/resetter is worth it. Buy one!
Brake fluid is topped off. My friend already tried using his ODBII code scanner machine and he couldn't read any errors. No reset was available. From what I was told, Infiniti has a special code reading machine that goes beyond what the ODBII can detect.
What I am saying is, if it's an abs sensor, an OBDII code should go off. And since your brake fluid is topped off, I think you should look into whether or not that sensor that monitors brake fluid level is malfunctioning.
something similar happen on a Lexus of mine where the mechanic damaged the sensor when he changed my struts and it caused the ABS light and one other to stay on. Luckily Lexus didn't charge me to diagnose but it but they knew as soon as they plugged it in. Had it replaced and it was good.
Do yourself a favor and check the black cable that goes to the sensor at the knuckle on both sides. THey shouldn't have to touch it for brakes and rotors but you never know--maybe they damaged the cable. I know if you had the tsb done with splash shield replacement, there is the possibility of damage if you don't disconnect the speed sensor before you remove the knuckle from the rest of the suspension.
